First Covenant Church of San Jose is seeking a highly motivated Director of Operations ready to join our pastoral and leadership team and fully embrace our vision of aggressively using all we are and all we have to accomplish the most we can for the Kingdom of God. Freshly challenged by the teaching of Jesus, the congregation recently voted to sell our current church meeting site in order to use our resources to fund compassion ministries, the planting of many new churches, our own reinvention as a congregation, and our relocation into rented facilities for the near future. This decision has freed considerable resources for ministry and created significant logistic challenges which must be professionally and wisely managed.
Toward that end, the Executive Board is seeking to immediately hire a Director of Operations who loves the Lord and has a desire to further the cause of Christ through the use of professional management skills to oversee our finances, properties (including sale of the current site, rental agreements, and equipping future sites), IT, human resources and administrative services. This person will handle all operational matters of the church, reporting directly to the Senior Pastor and overseeing full-time and part-time office staff. Candidates must be experienced administrators with leadership abilities and demonstrated expertise in financial and properties management, IT, Human Resources, and project planning and management.
Time Commitment and Compensation
This is a full-time, exempt position, including full benefits. As First Covenant grows, our desire is to see the Director of Operations grow in ability, responsibilities, and compensation.
Education and Experience
B.S. in Finance, Business, or Org Mgt or other related field, and five years of experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
Familiarity with church administration and finances required. Three years of management experience preferred. The selected candidate must fully support the mission and ministries of the Evangelical Covenant Church, our denominational affiliation www.covchurch.org.
