Job Description:
Purpose: To direct and provide hands-on leadership for all ministry to children at Springton Lake Presbyterian Church ( consistent with our theological view: Springton Lake is a congregation which wholeheartedly embraces the historic Christian faith as expressed in the creeds of the early church (Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed). We are committed to the historic Presbyterian form of the Christian tradition by our subscription to the Westminster Confession of Faith. Springton Lake is a growing, suburban PCA congregation of 200 in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. The Springton Lake weekly childrens ministry consists of 25 - 30 kids and we seek to significantly grow this program
Accountability: Directly accountable to the Senior Pastor and the Session
Qualifications: Committed Christian, minimum 2 years of related experience, college education (either completed or in process), evident communication, coordination and leadership skills
Areas of Responsibility:
1. Early Childhood/Elementary and Middle School Programs
Design Early Childhood/Elementary and Middle School Programs, providing oversight, leadership and ongoing evaluation of effectiveness
Assist in recruiting and equipping Sunday school teachers for pre-school - 8th grade classes
Assist in evaluating and selecting Sunday school curriculum
Teach Sunday school in either a primary or secondary role when needed
Develop and implement childrens curriculum
Plan and coordinate Junior Church (K - 4th grades)
2. Mid-Week Outreach Program
Develop, lead and maintain a mid-week program designed to minister to children and adolescents (K-8th grade) through fellowship, Bible teaching and music, with specific focus on appealing to the community
Assist in recruiting and equipping volunteer leaders for mid-week program
Lead in selecting and/or developing curriculum for mid-week program
3. Future Programs/Special Events
Lead in developing and leading programs to reach children and their families including special events at least once per quarter.
4. Additional Duties
Responsible for maintaining quality standards in all facilities where children will be taught
Establish relationships with families and parents of children involved in ministry programs.
Responsible for ensuring adequate supplies for all Sunday school, weekday and mid-week ministry needs.
Responsible for attending staff meetings, retreats or other staff functions
Design and coordinate training of all childrens ministry volunteers.
Will keep adequate office hours and will be--barring emergencies or planned absences--on-site during childrens ministry activities.
Responsible for tracking the budgets set aside for ministry to children
Will attend "Team Night" as a member of the SLPC Leadership Team
Will assist in scheduling, planning and moderating additional meetings with childrens ministry volunteers and supporters.
Maintain child safety policy and background check requirements
