Family Teachers – The Children’s Home
Are you and your spouse passionate about helping children succeed?
The Children’s Home is seeking a married couple to work together as Family Teachers (house parents) for at-risk youth.
For 93 years, The Children’s Home has been a haven where children from backgrounds of abuse and neglect thrive in a Christ-centered, family setting. Our mission is
to restore the identity of children that they will realize their great value and become a blessing to others.
Family Teachers serve as parents to a group of 6-8 children ages K-12 (grouped by ages and gender in teen homes) who live at The Children's Home. Family Teachers take children to school and church, prepare meals, help with homework, take
the family on vacation, and much more. They’re the ones who listen, who challenge and who encourage children to be their best. They receive training and support from a caring administrative team who are available to help 24/7.
We offer competitive salaries ($45,600/couple) and training, plus excellent benefits, including a private apartment with utilities, a grocery allowance, medical insurance, paid time off and a 401k retirement plan. For more, visit http://www.myrootsandwings.org/careers.
You must be 21 + years of age, married, fluent in English, have a valid drivers' license and good driving record, pass drug and tuberculosis screenings, meet eligibility to work in the US requirements, and pass thorough background checks. Experience working
with youth (1 yr or more) is preferred. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED; college coursework in social work, psychology, education or a related field is preferred. Family Teachers may have up to two of their own children and one pet living
on campus with them.
