Asbury United Methodist Church is seeking a full time Children's Ministry Director that will be responsible for all phases of Childrens Ministries including: Child care and programming for children in the nursery through sixth grade reflective of Asburys mission, vision and objectives.
Supervise Childrens Ministry Staff. This includes hiring, equipping, training and delegating appropriately.
Manage the staff for effectiveness and efficiency.
Together with senior management, childrens staff and other ministries, refine and further develop the vision and strategic plans for Childrens Ministry and Family Ministry.
Oversee Childrens Ministry activities for all areas of Sunday morning including:
Delivery of message (Large group/small group settings)
Classroom and equipment needs
Volunteer recruitment and training
Communicate with parents for problem resolution, guidance, education and support in regard to Childrens ministry.
Oversee Childrens non-Sunday programming such as weekday child care activities and special events (VBS, Easter Egg Hunt, Wed PM, etc).
Develop and maintain policy and safety procedures throughout Childrens Ministries.
Bachelor degree in related area. (Child Development, Education, Religious Education, etc.)
Masters degree preferred
RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
5+ years proven experience as a leader in education or Christian Education in an environment involving hundreds of children.
Administration experience in education (principal, vice principle) preferred.
Must be a mature Christian Believer with an understanding of the Christian faith
Ability to communicate with others in a variety of methods - Good interpersonal skills
Ability to deal with a variety of people - children and adults
Ability to recruit and motivate others
Knowledge of how children develop, age appropriate strategies, etc.
Ability to cast a vision and train accordingly
Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to use a computer
Knowledge of licensing laws for preschool and childcare a plus
