Job Description:
DESCRIPTION: Full-time employment reporting to the Stewardship Manager for Bridges For Peace-USA this employee will operates devices used to enter data into computer storage; processes records and reports for entry into computer storage; retrieves, prepares and disseminates reports to appropriate personnel; performs related work as required.
LOCATION: The position opening is for the United States office of Bridges for Peace, located in Melbourne, Florida. EXAMPLES OF WORK: (The position may not be assigned all the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all the duties that may be assigned.)
Operates data entry devices to transcribe data from source documents or records into computer storage and to verify accuracy of data entered by others.
Codes, indexes and compiles data for entry into the computer.
Records information in files, records, and logs to document the type and amount of work performed and to ensure uniform storage and retrieval of information.
Sorts and batches forms, documents, and other records to be entered into computer storage to document the type and number of records entered, and to process work in a prescribed manner.
Files and retrieves documents to be entered into computer storage to facilitate uniform storage and retrieval of information.
Proofreads and corrects documents and other materials produced or received to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and acceptability of the materials before further processing.
Posts data to ledgers, journals, and worksheets to establish and maintain records of all financial transactions.
Balances and/or reconciles ledgers, journals, worksheets, and accounts to verify that posting is complete and accurate.
Sorts and files and/or retrieves correspondence, records, reports, invoices, vouchers, computer printouts, and other documents to ensure uniform storage and ready access to information.
Extracts and compiles financial data from vouchers, ledgers, journals, and computer printouts or files, to facilitate the preparation of reports and statements and to provide management data for analysis.
Operates office machines including calculators, terminals, reproduction equipment, and typewriters to duplicate, compile, tabulate, check, or post materials/information.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: (These may be acquired on the job and are needed to perform the work assigned.)
Knowledge of: the organizational structure, purpose, and activities of Bridges for Peace, Inc. the organizations policies and guidelines pertinent to data entry, codes and classification; the data entry functions and associated specialized terminology; operational characteristics and record keeping requirements of agency's manual and automated systems. Knowledge of: the operating procedures for the assigned data entry computer and software; the data entry screen formats used by the employing agency; the data entry operation policies and procedures of the employing agency.
Ability to: organize personal work assignments; interpret BFP policies and guidelines pertinent to data entry practices; cross train other staff in data entry policies and procedures; make decisions pertinent to the selection and application of established standards, policies, and procedures; code transactions; operate the assigned data entry computer and software; identify possible errors contained in source documents.
ENTRY KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: (Applicants will be screened for possession of these through written, oral, performance, and/or other evaluations.)
Knowledge of: data entry techniques and procedures; and
Ability to communicate in the Spanish language - Competence in written and verbal
Ability to work with Evangelical Christians, Jewish people in the United States, and staff in the Israel office, while understanding the biblical importance of, and maintaining a commitment to the Jewish people and the land of Israel. (This maybe needs to be stated differently and perhaps can be moved to another area, but I think it might work here.)
Ability to: operate data entry machine; file and retrieve materials using alphabetical and numerical filing systems; code information in accordance with an established system; read and understand data entry machine operating manuals; understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Excellent typing skills and proficient in WORD and EXCEL programs.
EXPERIENCE AND JOB PREPARATION GUIDELINES: (Entry knowledge, abilities, and/or skills may be acquired through, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, the following coursework/training and/or experience.)
Experience performing data entry computer operation.
Coursework/training in data entry equipment operation.
ENTRY KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: (Applicants will be screened for possession of these through written, oral, performance, and/or other evaluations.)
Knowledge of: clerical data entry practices and procedures; the methods of filing and maintaining records.
Ability to: post information to ledgers, journals, worksheets, and other documents; compute and compile figures involving the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions; communicate orally and in writing with agency staff and public; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; operate a desk calculator; adapt and apply guidelines and methods to accounting transactions and/or accounting personnel; extract data from established accounts for use in preparing accounting reports and statements; operate office machines such as photocopy machines, computer terminals, typewriters, and microfiche readers.
