The Accountant II helps empower CRISTA to meet its mission by supplying great accounting and finance support and excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. The Accountant II will work with appropriate individuals to ensure that monthly financial statements are both timely and accurate. This position will also manage relationships with assigned Fee Based ministries, and respond to inquiries from both internal and external customers. The Accountant II will prepare complex journal entries, reconciliations and audit schedules as assigned and assist in the budget process as needed. The Accountant II will conduct ministry research, perform analysis, complete special projects, and prepare various other reports as needed.




1. General Ledger: Understand ministry specific software and processes well enough to prepare accurate journal entries and reconciliations. Prepare and post necessary journal entries for assigned Fee Based ministry areas. Utilize the Agresso accounting system to generate and modify reports. Review assigned sections of the monthly financial statements for accuracy, clarity and trends; primarily CRISTA Camps. Prepare GL account reconciliations as assigned.



2.Ministry Support: Cultivate and manage healthy working relationships with Fee Based ministry staff, customers, and third party vendors. Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers particularly with respect to their school billing or financial related questions. Work with ministry staff to ensure an efficient and effective exchange of financial data.



3. Accounting Department Support: Propose to the Accounting Manager or Controller improvements and modifications to the management, reporting and financial processes of CRISTA. Assist with completion of support for the annual audit and the annual tax returns. Provide back-up duties for other Accounting Personnel as assigned. Provide analysis and reporting of financial and nonfinancial data for Fee Based Service Ministries as assigned, including assistance with budget research and preparation.



4. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience


Christian Commitment:

Godly leader and servant leadership style that is relational and reflective of John 10; personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and spiritual maturity.



Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.



Experience: Two years’ experience with computerized accounts receivable systems and  general ledger systems.

One year experience customer service.



Other Considerations:Must be able to work independently, efficiently and professionally with a wide variety of personality types.



Software and Equipment Used:Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.





Accounting experience with private schools or camps.



Software and Equipment Used:

Experience with Agresso G/L software, Smart Tuition School software, and/or Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge.
