Job Description:
Covenant Shores, (Mercer Island, WA), part of a nation wide family of CCAC accredited CCRC's: Covenant Retirement Communities, 5th largest AAHSA Ziegler Top 100, is seeking a Director of Nursing.

This position is accountable for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the skilled nursing services in order to provide patient/resident care in accordance with the philosophy and policies of Covenant Retirement Communities as well as the regulations established by state and federal law. This position cooperates will all other department managers to assure that the needs of the residents are being met and that a pleasant working atmosphere is maintained.

The successful candidate will have:

Current registered nursing license in the state of Washington
Background in geriatric nursing and leadership and administrative experience
Must have five years of experience in Long Term Care, including one year of nursing supervision in a Skilled Nursing Facility

The ability to use nursing equipment such as stethoscope, blood pressure monitor, syringes and other related equipment is required. Must also be able to use office equipment such as computer, telephone, fax machine, copier. Must show devotion to standards and principles of professional nursing. Familiarity / compatibility with the mission of Covenant Retirement Communities and the Evangelical Covenant Church is essential.

Competence in supervision and ability to motivate, direct and encourage staff and volunteers is necessary. Must show skills in assessing problems and planning and evaluating solutions in relationship to management of staff and resident needs. Computer skills and ability to learn new programs is necessary. Excellent communication in written and verbal English skills is required. Position requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. The majority of time may be spent in office situations but also requires mobility to move around campus. Must demonstrate knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to Nursing Homes. Must also demonstrate knowledge of MDS reporting.
