Open Doors, USA - Orange County, CA – Santa Ana, CA

Open   Doors USA is looking to fill the position of the Chief Financial Officer. This   is an exciting opportunity to provide financial oversight and strategic   planning for Open Doors USA.


Reporting Relationship:

The   CFO directly reports to the President and directs the financial affairs of Open   Doors USA along with overseeing the entire Accounting and Gift Processing Departments.


Position Summary:

Reporting to and partnering with the   president, the chief financial officer (CFO) will set ODUSA’s financial   policy and direction while also being an active participant in, and driver   of, the organization’s overall strategy.


This individual will be responsible   for leading the Finance team in managing Open Doors USA financial and   accounting policies, systems and processes, tax and regulatory compliance   requirements, internal controls, business planning and budgeting and annual   financial audits.  This includes   conducting financial analysis, preparing financial reports and maintaining an   effective system of accounting to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory and   tax authorities, AICPA directives and other Not-For-Profit guidelines.


As a   member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will work closely with a   motivated and engaged finance committee of the board of directors.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This   position has four direct reports, with a total of 8 employees in the   Accounting Department and Gift Processing Department.


*principal duties include but not limited to the following


Partner with the president on all operational and strategic issues as they arise;  


Provide strategic recommendations to the president based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.


Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the senior management team.


Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with ODUSA’s strategic plan.


As part of the senior management team, act as the liaison with the vice presidents (VP) of development to align financial management with short- and  long-term financial planning and projections.


Engage the board finance committee around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model and operational delivery.


Prepare financial analyses of operations for the guidance of management for all entities.


Provide strategic oversight to all fund raising and income generation activities.  Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and donor regulatory requirements.


Tracks laws and regulations that might affect the organization's policies.


Reviews all contracts and grants and maintains proper tracking of expenses and contingencies for ODUSA.


Coordinate all audit activities.


Evaluate and oversee all benefits negotiations, thus providing the most competitive packages for Open Doors USA employees.


Oversee insurance programs to ensure cost-effective pricing and adequate coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.


Oversees the investing and accounting functions of the Estate Planning process.


Works closely with Human resources and IT to review all formal procedures, processes and administration, recommending improvements to the systems currently in place.


Job Skills & Requirements:


A personal relationship with Jesus, good working knowledge of the Bible, signed acknowledgment of the Statement of Faith.


A minimum of a BS, with CPA or MBA being a plus.


Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the chief executive of a   multi-state and network-based entity.


If coming from the for-profit world, nonprofit board experience preferred.


Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting.


Skill in examining, developing, reengineering, and recommending financial, HR, and technology policies and procedures.


Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model.
