Position Title: Community Housing Improvement Director
Organization: Red Bird Mission

Red Bird Mission an institution in the Red Bird Missionary Conference and is comprised of Red Bird Mission, Inc. and Red Bird Clinic, Inc., two national mission institutions related to the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church.

Position Summary

Directs Community Housing Improvement Department providing ministries through services to individuals, groups, and community by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Works with Executive Director to establish policies and programs and administers such programs on behalf of the Board of Directors. Responsible for the operation and management of the Work Camp program, facility maintenance, grounds, and vehicle maintenance.
Assumes responsibility for development and administration of standards and procedures related to Community Housing Improvement personnel, including staff development, budget, and physical facilities.
Develops long-range facility upgrade plans to ensure that Mission, Clinic, and Housing Corporations facilities meet the need of the ministries of the Mission.
Develops and submits an annual budget for the Department. Monitors the execution of the budget during the budget year.
Develops and maintains a preventive maintenance program for buildings, equipment and vehicles.
Develops and maintains a method for scheduling and monitoring day-to-day vehicle and facility maintenance projects.
Oversees the procurement of materials and supplies.
Establishes operating policies consistent with the organizations policies and objectives and ensures their execution.
Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically, and reports these results to the Executive Director.
Directly supervises employees in the Community Housing Improvement Department.


A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent experience or a combination of education and experience.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other qualifications/requirements include: valid drivers license, a good working knowledge of common computer word processor and spreadsheet software, residential and commercial construction.
