Cornerstone Ministries Associate Director of Worship and Arts (ADWA) is responsible for supporting the Worship and Arts Director in leading the worship portion of all church-wide services and supporting the worship elements of other ministries in the church.
The following responsibilities are shared with the Worship and Arts Director and will eventually be assumed:
Worship Services Duties:
Craft weekend, weekday, and special services in the areas of drama, music, and creative arts
Schedule special musical and drama performances
Develop teams of gifted musicians, vocalists, and other artists
Direct all weekly activities, rehearsals, etc necessary to facilitate worship in services
Choose music for services and special events to help emphasize the theme or focus of the particular service
Lead participant in the Creative Team partnering with the Senior Pastor to support the creative development of church wide services
Direct the Media Department staff by equipping and prioritizing media needs in support of weekend, weekday, and special services
Provide musical leadership for all worship services and special services while developing and encouraging others with musical skills to be involved in leading worship
Responsible for development of special choirs, drama teams, instrumental groups
Coordinate the purchase and maintain an inventory of music, supplies, materials, and equipment
Coordinate the maintenance, repair and storage of all music paraphernalia
Responsible for all creative elements present in Sanctuary
Responsible for creating an environment of comfort and focus in the Sanctuary
Organize, prepare and publish a music schedule for worship volunteers
Seek to improve and expand the congregations music ministry
Ministry Support Duties:
Partner with other ministry directors and pastors to assess creative arts needs
Integrate creative arts volunteers in to diverse ministry areas
Equip, recruit, train, support, lead and value volunteers to serve as a member of the Worship ministries.
oDevelop systems to equip volunteers in cooperation with the Equipping Ministry Team. Continually monitor opportunities to involve volunteers in ministry functions.
oDevelop a clear process for welcoming, equipping and utilizing volunteer teams.
oEngage in professional development opportunities by attending workshops, seminars, and other churches at least once per year.
Participate in the development of the annual ministry budget
Support Staff Duties:
Provide ministry reports as requested
Attend support staff meetings to facilitate communications as necessary
Perform additional duties as requested by the Worship and Arts Director and / or Senior Pastor
Qualifications, skills, and gifts:
Bachelor or Masters Degree with music emphasis and/or three or more years of experience in the music administration, combination of experience and education as approved by the Executive Board.
Interest in drama as a means of communicating the Gospel.
Accomplished in leading contemporary worship services.
Able to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers to participate in the music and drama ministry as well as other leaders to assist in the development of the music and drama ministry.
Solid organizational skills.
Gifted in the area of the creative arts.
Ability to meet prescribed goals as established by the church.
Posses a self-motivating attitude.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interact with multiple people with grace and enthusiasm.
Excellent leadership skills for relating to pastoral staff, co-workers and volunteers.
Prompt and efficient.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Complete Criminal and Child Abuse clearances (Act 33/34).
Commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
