Position Title Development Representative, (Western USA)

Position Summary

Executes an effective fundraising program in the Washington, Oregon, California USA region through management of a portfolio of donors as well as helping to support and build effective donor strategies with other Development Representatives. Responsible for functioning consistently within established University budgets, policies, and other operating procedures as required to effectively fulfil the position's responsibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Donor Portfolio Management

Responsible to build and maintain on-going relationships with individuals interested in, and committed to the mission of TWU. This includes cultivation, retention and management of a portfolio of donors and gift prospects:

a. Identifies, evaluates and cultivates prospective donors;

b. Develops and implements comprehensive strategies and goals for revenue generation from his donor portfolio;

c. Establishes a schedule of regular contact with donor and prospect base, including ongoing calls, personal visits, as well as linking other campus partners to specific donor events;

d. Builds and updates an accurate database of contacts;

e. In collaboration with the Advancement Divisions Grant & Proposal Team, develops proposals and presentations and works with donors to generate gifts for priority University initiatives;

f. Ensures appropriate donor recognition.

The main goal of donor portfolio management is the raising of funds according to annual campaign and departmental goals.

2. Capital Campaign Programs

Responsible for taking an integral role in the execution of capital campaigns and fundraising programs through up-front work in prospecting and cultivating foundation and corporate donors and prospects during 'silent and 'public phases.

3. Collaborative Partnership Building

Responsible for staying well connected to and working flexibly with the Advancement division as a whole in strategizing, developing, and planning for the purpose of achieving Department and University fundraising goals. Works collaboratively with Alumni, Planned Giving, Church Relations, Advancement Services and University Communication units within the division. Also works collaboratively with other University departments, particularly Admissions.

4. Budgets

Responsible for effectively managing personal expense account and assigned project accounts within defined annual budgets.

5. Servant-leader way of life:

Responsible for acting in a manner that exemplifies Jesus Christ in all on and off campus contacts thereby living out the servant leadership mission of the university and contributing effectively towards achieving the institutional and Kingdom goals of the organization.

Job Standards & Requirements

Education BA required. Will consider extensive business and leadership experience.

Experience 3-4 years in sales and marketing, business development, public relations or fundraising role required. Preference will be given to those with extensive business development and fundraising background.

Skills & Abilities:

Superior demonstrated customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a wide range of individuals, nationalities, and personalities, including high-level contacts and corporate and foundation executives. Good software skills with MS Word, Excel, and Dbase. Good team player, multi-tasking skills with demonstrated persistence, initiative and tact.

Superior, well-developed abilities in public speaking, sales, and marketing. Good ability in organizing, planning, prioritizing, administrative details, and presentations. Able to work under significant time, financial and schedule pressures, effectively interacting with donors.
