Opportunity Profile for President of Staff, Urban Family Council--Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Who We Are
Urban Family Council is an independent, donor-supported, faith-based, non-profit community organization that provides educational services to children, adolescents and their families in public and private schools, community organizations, churches and other faith communities.


What We Do
Urban Family Council uses an age-appropriate, character-based, leadership and health curriculum for parents, youth ages 10-19, and college age adults. Services are provided by Urban Family Council staff and volunteers in public and private schools, community groups, and various faith institutions. The program includes relationship education, leadership education, specialized services, parent education, summer camps, media interviews, and special events.

To build healthy families--one student at a time--thereby positively influencing the future health and well-being of the individuals, families and communities we serve.


Mission Statement
Urban Family Council exists to build healthy families by providing education about, and advocating for, life, marriage and family.

Our Vision
Urban Family Council, through its Building Healthy Families Youth & Family Development Program, seeks to reconnect Christians and Churches to the public schools, their students and their families in the neighborhoods where the schools reside.

Organizational Governance
Urban Family Councils governing document is its by-laws. Under the by-laws, a Board of 5 to 15 is elected by the present Board, based on nominations provided by the Nominating Committee. The Board selects, evaluates and terminates the President of Staff.

The President of Staff provides for the operational direction of the leadership team. Vision and strategic plans are set through the collaborative effort with the Board, President of Staff and senior staff.

The annual budget is prepared by the President of Staff and approved by the Board.

The Opportunity
The successful candidate will first and foremost be a passionate follower of Jesus Christ who models Gods love for people; being a servant-leader of staff and all areas of responsibility.

The new President will need a combination of vision, administrative, teaching and equipping gifts. This will include the ability to select staff and build effective teams. Staff and key leaders will have access to the new President in order to understand the overall vision and role they are to play in moving the strategic plan forward.

The new President will exhibit a servant attitude and demonstrate a deep faith in Jesus Christ and a supreme confidence in Gods ultimate blessing on Urban Family Council, its mission and its impact.

At the core of the new Presidents giftedness will be the demonstrated capacity to provide strong persistent leadership and the ability to transform vision to action. The ability to cast vision and then patiently oversee the development of action steps necessary to accomplish the vision will be important.

The new President will work in cooperation with the Board and staff in developing the vision and the strategic initiatives needed to accomplish it. It will also be important to keep the Board and staff and other areas updated regarding progress toward the vision.

Where is this person now?
Most likely, this person is currently serving a thriving ministry at a senior level where there are frequent opportunities to lead significant ministry initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications
* Education and experience sufficient to equip the new President for this significant position
* Agreement with Urban Family Councils Doctrinal Statement [available on request]
* Experience leading in a multi-staff environment
