EPC Newark is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America. We are located in a vibrant area of Newark, DE close to the main campus of University of Delaware. Newark is within driving distance of Philadelphia (1 hr.), New York (2.5 hrs.), Baltimore (1.5 hours) and Washington (2 hrs.). EPC is evangelical, reformed and missional in orientation. General Description: Evangelical Presbyterian Church is seeking a Before and After School Program Coordinator with the experience, enthusiasm and energy to develop a program to serve the Newark, DE community. The desired launch date for the program is the fall of 2008, with an initial enrollment goal of 20 elementary students. Qualified applicants will appreciate the opportunity to offer working families a quality childcare solution in a distinctively Christian context. Other duties include coordination of our Summer Music & Arts Camp and Vacation Bible School. The desired start date for the position is January 2008.

Responsible To: Senior Pastor


Bachelors Degree from an accredited college/university in Childrens Education or other related field.

Licensed (or able to be licensed) by the state of Delaware as the Director of an after school program.

Submit to and receive clean background check from Delaware State Police

Christian testimony and convictions consistent with serving a congregation in the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA).

Able to work independently in creating, developing, and implementing new programs and activities.

Strong relational, managerial and organizational skills.

Willing to work harmoniously with and submit to the leadership of the Senior Pastor and the governing board of the church.

Comfortable working in a multicultural context.

Overall Responsibility
Develop a before and after school program to effectively serve the local community

Develop the summer ministry program for children and families (currently Vacation Bible School and Music & Arts Camp)


Develop a before and after school program to serve families in our community

Hire and manage part time staff to work in the before and after school program.

Provide oversight to volunteer staff who run the various childrens programs, (Music, Art, Drama, Reading, etc.)

Obtain all required personal, staff and corporate licenses/permits/credentials before opening the program

Monitor facility and equipment/furniture needs for the program.

Manage program expenses and budgeting

Ensure all child safety and security measures are in place and followed

Maintain database of families served.

Oversee the Nursery and lead/supervise the Nursery Coordinator.

Professional Development: The Before and After School Program Coordinator will
continue professional development to enhance his/her service and professional growth.

Expectations, Evaluation, Compensation: As a full time staff member, the Before and
After School Program Coordinator is expected to attend corporate worship, staff
meetings, and additional staff functions as required. The Coordinator must communicate
matters of concern to the Senior Pastor as soon as they occur. Goals and objectives will
be established annually and reviewed. An annual performance review will be conducted
by the Senior Pastor. This position is full time with benefits.
