Gatehouse Ministries (GHM) is a small private non-profit organization that exists "to create a nurturing environment of challenge, growth and potential for college-age missionary kids (MKs)". GHM is seeking a qualified couple to lead it into its next season of ministry as Directors of its college ministry in Redding, California.
Applicants will be a married couple who will model a vibrant Christian testimony, both in their daily walk and in the health of their marriage. They will have an understanding of the special needs of Third Culture Kids (TCKs) and Missionary Kids (MKs) as they transition from life in foreign countries in which they were raised to life in North America.
The Director is a twelve-month resident position that allows for close contact with students on a daily basis. It requires a dedication to students' social, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional development, helping them to prepare for the challenges and responsibilities of living in the world as Christians. The Director is directly responsible to the Gatehouse Board of Directors.
Although the position is a twelve-month position, the ministry operates on the academic calendar. The house is closed from Mid-May to mid-August of each year. It is expected that the directors have significantly more freedom and time off during the summer months, subject to arrangement with volunteers, accounting services and the board of directors.
The Director is directly responsible for running all aspects of the non-profit organization and the local ministry to MKs. The job includes fund raising, public speaking, written donor communication, accounting, home management, house parenting, discipleship and college ministry. The director must be willing and able to act with very little supervision and direction - this is a job for self-starting mature individuals who have a vision for ministry to college-age missionary kids. The ideal couple would be empty-nesters with history of international ministry, perhaps former missionaries themselves.
