Job Summary:
The Associate Pastor will work alongside the senior pastor to shepherd and implement the mission and vision of the church. Specifically the Associate Pastor will have direct oversight of the Outreach and Discipleship ministries of the church. He will also handle some of the administrative duties of the church as well as assisting the senior pastor with pastoral care as needed. The goal for the associate pastor is to equip and empower church members to serve in the outreach and discipleship ministries. The associate pastor will work to build teams of church members who will serve the church in these key areas using the gifts and abilities given them by God.

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Outreach (35%)- leading people to Jesus. Moving people from the world to followers of Jesus. Moving people from visitors to attenders. Training church members in evangelism. This includes oversight of the outreach ministry and leadership of the people who serve on the various teams
Oversight of outreach events- planning events, recruiting teams, implementing the plan, promoting the event and church ministries
Oversight of the greeting/welcome teams- designing and implementing welcome strategy, recruiting and training teams
Oversight of visitor follow-up- designing visitor follow-up strategy, recruiting and training teams
Oversight of "Discovering Jesus Class"- creating and implementing an elective class for interested seekers to discover Jesus
Oversight of evangelism training- teaching and designing strategies to train church members in evangelism
2. Discipleship (20%)- helping people become committed followers of Jesus. Helping people take their next steps to further their walk and commitment to Jesus. Facilitating people plugging into the life and ministry of the church. Helping people move from attenders to members to ministers. Oversight of the discipleship/education ministries of the church and leadership of the people who serve on the various teams
Oversight of Assimilation- oversight of new member/baptism class, creating and implementing new believer/ first steps class, create and implement a strategy for plugging people into the ministries of the church
Oversight of Discipleship/Education Commission- work with, encourage, shepherd, and lead the discipleship/education deacon, commission, and teams
3. Pastoral Ministry (35%)- assisting the Senior pastor with hospital visits, preaching, counseling, weddings, funerals and other pastoral duties as is necessary and time allows
4. Administration (10%)- assisting the office and Senior pastor with the administration duties of the church
The first call- administration duties begin with the associate pastor, and are delegated out to the appropriate channel.

Reports to Sr. Pastor and works closely with him for the direction of outreach and discipleship
Pastor to the Outreach and Discipleship/Education leaders and teams
Coordinates Administration duties with the Office Coordinator and Administration Commission

The ideal candidate is someone with significant pastoral as well as life experience. The goal is to bring experience and maturity to the pastoral staff. The desired age is at least 50 years old while maintaining energy and excitement for ministry. The ideal candidate must meet the qualifications listed below:
 Maintain a believers testimony and lifestyle
 Meet the biblical qualification for elders as outlined in 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5
 Have a minimum 20 years pastoral experience with the majority as a Senior Pastor
 Hold a Masters of Divinity or equivalent from and evangelical institution
 Be in agreement with Northwests faith and practice
 Be able to preach and teach effectively
 Have experience in church ministries including any or all of these: visitation, evangelism, counseling, current outreach strategies, discipleship, recruiting/team building, administration
 Be gifted in building relationships, home visits, encouragement, pastoral care/shepherding
 Practice a biblical attitude to authority and conflict.
 Demonstrate confidentiality, tact, and good judgment.
 Work in an organized and efficient manner
