Job Title: Director of Public Relations and Media
Reports To: President
Position Summary: Manage, develop, and direct public relations and media policies, programs and systems to support the strategic direction of the mission. Partner with management team to develop and implement strategic public relations plans, ensuring the best possible service and effective communications to Avant Ministries members, staff, donors and partners.
Policy development and execution for PR and Media
Internal and external communications support
Public relations and communication capability development and management
Develops long range and annual public relations plans in support of organizational strategy and objectives.
Directs implementation and execution of department policies and practices.
Ensures public relations and media are coordinated, support annual plan objectives, and meet organizational requirements.
Provides leadership in the development of public relations and media ventures, affiliations and partnership arrangements.
Provides leadership and support for the design, development and implementation of media products and services.
Oversees and directs public relations research to ensure organization remains informed of internal and external trends.
Builds, develops and manages department team capable of carrying out needed public relations and media strategies.
Establishes strong partnerships with management team and other key internal clients through effective communication, collaboration, and cooperation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing or related field.
Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
Ability to think ahead and plan over a 1-2 year time span.
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Marketing and service systems development and deployment.
Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
Technical skills in strategic planning, PR and communication planning, marketing, market research, and executing strategic communication programs.
Employee training and development.
Strong customer orientation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills.
High performance teams and a strong team player.
Commitment to organization values.
Beneficial Skills and Experience
Masters degree in PR, Communications, or MBA
PR, Communications, or Marketing experience within a missions agency or other non-profit organization.
Computer proficiency including familiarity with desktop publishing and web design software.
