Job Description - Director, Center for Christian Understanding of Islam


1. Spiritual
The director demonstrates a genuine Christian character, response to Gods call into Christian leadership, a deepening relationship to Christ through personal discipline and churchmanship. The director leads a prayer example and ministry through the Center and in the context of speaking engagements and relationships.
2. Education
Based on college/university/seminary degrees and Gods leading, the director is a continual student of Islam and Muslims in the context research and personal relationships. The director demonstrates competencies in both Christian and Muslim theology,history and practice.
3. Experience
The director demonstrates leadership, speaking and writing skills, competencies in administration of programs and persons plus a background of relating to Muslims effectively without intimidation.

Job summary:

The director recognizes and supports the spiritual and practical dimensions of the calling from God to communicate to Christians and Christian groups the challenge of Islam and Muslims and to use appropriate means to present to Muslims the message of Gods redemptive love for all people.

The director is an administrator, spiritual guide, nurturer, researcher, communicator, and advocate for the proclamation of Gods message to His Church and to the multitudes who reject the divinity, Sonship, crucifixion, resurrection and coming reign of Christ as Lord...

The directors responsibilities, as introduced below, are intended to facilitate the use of and the ministries of the Center for Christian Understanding of Islam as a significant vehicle to fulfill the spiritual mission stated above.


1. Manages the day-to-day operation of the Center
Reports to the directors of the Foundation for Advanced Study and Training
Keeps them informed regarding the operations
Programs presented, visitors, needs
Maintains contacts with the treasurer and cooperates in development of the budgets and required reports
Manages and reports all expenditures related to the Center
Attends and reports at meetings of the directors
Discusses with directors program and equipment needs
Responds to and implements decisions of directors
Relates to other Center staff through selection, supervision and evaluation of all staff and volunteers
Relates to the owner of the building
Reports physical conditions needing attention
Meets with owner as necessary and spontaneously
Manages and seeks ways to enhance public relations
Develops, recommends and implement approved plans, programs and emphases
2. Promotes the ministries of the Center
Develops programs, presentations and products (including newsletter)
Interacts with the targeted publics, Churches, organizations, I Institutions, groups, and individuals
Maintains communication with contributors, participants, clients, public relations, publicity, promotional efforts
Plans and implements outreach efforts to
Christian entities
Secular, non-sectarian entities
Muslims and groups of Muslims
3. Prioritizes and participates in staff development, education,and research
Attends and participates in meetings, conferences and classes related to work of the Center
Incorporates cutting-edge ideas, directions and developments into programs
4. Manages the efforts of staff serving in and/or related to Center
Recruits personnel in all categories as needed Develops and adjusts job descriptions, as approved by directors
5. Assists directors and personnel related to the Center in fund-raising efforts to support on-going and innovative ministries
