Acts as a communication leader serving campus departments as a communications expert advisor, project driver and storyteller to help fulfill the mission of the University. As assigned, will also take on special University Communications team administrative role overseeing print production function.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible to participate as an active team member of the University Communications department, giving suggestions and feedback, being effective and diligent in the role, and being accountable to complete departmental, professional and personal goals set forth in this role.
Responsible to help the University Communications team establish a vision, overall TWU communications plan and central communications policies that build awareness, recognition and support for TWU with external audiences as a premier University for leadership development.
Responsible to lead and guide assigned campus clients to own the TWU communications principles, and develop communication goals and strategies that support the central communication plan and policies. Do this as a helpful communications educator, facilitator and implementer.
Responsible to assist assigned campus clients to manage effective departmental communication projects. Keeping in mind the bigger picture goals, will work in a positive, collaborative manner to organize and support project manage teams that are flexible and responsive, solution-oriented and quality driven.
Responsible to help campus clients understand and adopt innovative new communications solutions to program needs. In particular, will work with the web communications specialist to help clients implement new electronic communication strategies as per the emerging central vision for this area.
Responsible to assist campus clients as an advisor, project manager and editor (and, as appropriate, together with the communications web specialist and visual design specialist), with the production of materials working with internal and external writers, designers, photographers, printers and mail-houses. Assist with writing, editing and proofreading materials.
Responsible to manage the on-going production of one or more assigned central publications, often working with a campus project committee, other writers and off campus vendors, clients and staff.
Responsible to seek, develop and disseminate compelling University stories that illustrate TWUs key messages and identity as a premier institution for leadership development.
Responsible to maintain an active internal public relations focus in all campus relationships.
Responsible to model the mission of the university through commitment to Christ and servant leadership in all on and off campus contacts.
Education BA required.
Experience 4-6 years in a corporate marketing/communications environment.
Skills : Project management and team building skills. Editorial and writing skills for a variety of publications and constituencies. Interpersonal and interviewing skills with a wide variety of people both on and off campus. Skilled in the use and management of technology to enhance the effectiveness of work. Demonstrated skills in the development and implementation of marketing relevant to the client.
Proven ability to edit and proofread materials, develop and implement graphic design work, effectively producing quality materials that reflect the image and leadership of the university. Strong ability to build positive relationships with university clients and departments.
