Position Summary

The Senior Summer Camp Director works collaboratively with the leadership team to develop, communicate and implement camp programs within an assigned region, ensuring the integrity and professional image of services are consistent with SpringHill’s mission, vision, purpose and values.


Principal Duties and Job Functions

  •     Responsible for the planning and execution of summer camp at our Michigan Overnight     property
  •     Ensure alignment of summer camp with SpringHill’s mission, vision, and values
  •     Lead the team of Summer Camp Directors who are responsible for different age     groups
  •     Recruit, interview, hire and retain Summer Staff, ensuring summer is fully staffed
  •     Provide training for Summer Staff  and assist with other elements of Summer Staff training
  •     Create new programs and new activities to remain relevant and reach more kids
  •     Work with and oversee the Activities Department and Activities Director, ensuring the safety each guest at SpringHill
  •     Serve as a liaison with our marketing staff to promote summer camp
  •     Establish and maintain relationships with select key constituents (staff, parents, ministry leaders, donors)
  •     Ensure compliance with ACA, ACCT and State Laws
  •     Manage all associated account lines and perform within budget


Experience and Qualifications Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  •   Bachelors Degree in related field required
  •   5+   years experience in youth ministry, camp ministry, or similar field
  •   Proven experience developing leaders
  •   Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  •   5+ years experience of team leadership/supervisory experience
  •   Experience   managing camp activities preferred

  •   Strong Christian faith, integrity, moral values and convictions
  •   Ability to communicate clearly and   concisely, both orally and in writing
  •   Problem solving skills
  •   Ability to exercise good judgment and making sound decisions in performing job duties
  •   Ability to detect unsafe equipment and actions and to take the appropriate corrective action
  •   Ability to exercise patience and diplomacy in dealing with camp employees, students, guest and the general public while performing investigative tasks
  •   A self-starter who is highly motivated and able to work unsupervised for extended periods
  •   Ability to handle restricted and confidential information in a professional manner and always maintain the information as such


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  •   Ability to travel within the Midwest region 3-6 weeks per year
  •   Must be able to lift, bend, and twist
  •   Ability to push and pull loads
  •   Must be able to lift frequently up to 35 lbs, occasionally 35-100 lbs with   assistance
  •   Good eye-hand coordination
