Job Description:
Information Technology Services at Bethel University is seeking an individual to assist with UNIX operating system configuration and maintenance, consisting of daily management and monitoring of the systems, configuration and installation of operating system upgrades, and installation and monitoring of applications on UNIX systems.

Individual will be responsible for analyzing customer software needs, providing and testing solutions and working with appropriate staff to implement tested solutions and create necessary documentation. Individual will interface with individual faculty and staff on projects and discipline-specific software applications, work with departments to identify and evaluate discipline-specific applications, and provide troubleshooting and problem solving for escalated user-support requests.

Requires knowledge equivalent to that gained through completion of a baccalaureate degree in computer science, plus two years of on-the-job UNIX experience. Experience with Solaris and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux desired. Familiarity with OpenLDAP servers and with Perl and shell programming languages is also desired. Individual should have the ability to communicate effectively in a professional and confidential manner.

This is a full time, 12 month position.
