Emmanuel Christian is currently seeking a high-energy, visionary and dynamic leader to serve as the 2008-09 Headmaster for our school of approximately 450 students in grades K-12. We desire a person who understands the philosophy of Christian education and possesses the type of leadership required to support high academic achievement. Candidates should be experienced and exhibit leadership skills defined by integrity, clear and open communication, and fairness.
In addition, candidates must be in agreement with our doctrinal statement "The Baptist Faith and Message" - 2000 version. The Headmaster will serve as an Associate Pastor overseeing the School Ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hartsville, SC.
Senior Pastor and the School Board.
Demonstrate high expectations for all students and staff and a commitment to providing the support required to attain them.
Ensure a safe, nurturing, and Christian environment for students, staff, and families.
Develop and implement a plan for school improvement efforts.
Analyze student performance data to inform school improvement efforts and benchmark progress.
Design and implement a professional development strategy that addresses instructional improvement priorities defined by student achievement and the individual needs of staff members.
Conduct daily classroom observations to analyze instruction, and supervise staff to ensure continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Improve public relations and community networking for the school.
Establish a collegial environment that honors and encourages staffs continuous learning.
Foster teacher leadership through delegation, shared leadership and decision-making.
Align the use of time, people, money, and materials to schools mission and instructional priorities.
Manage personnel and daily operations of the school.
Collaboration with the President and School Board to further develop the schools mission, vision, and professional culture.
Cultivate and sustain meaningful partnerships with families, local churches, and community businesses that support student achievement and well-being.
Masters degree in Education;
Ability to provide an accessible, yet strong presence and to demonstrate leadership by example;
Demonstrated success working within a high performing small high school;
Understanding of the Principals role in establishing and maintaining a safe and disciplined school environment;
Ability to work collaboratively with other small school headmasters;
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and parents;
Demonstrate skills in creative problem solving;
Experience supervising and/or evaluating staff;
Demonstrate ability to manage a budget;
Website design and maintenance is a plus, but not required.
