General Purpose/Summary Statement:
The Parenting Manager position exists to support and help lead/direct development of strategies, business plans, and the relationships with outside ministries to reach parents with the life-giving message of God-honoring parenting while meeting Parenting goals and objectives, and meeting Focus on the Family standards.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

-Serves a vital role with the Director of Parenting in translating the understanding of an audience and their attendant needs and direct it into a program, content, media, etc. The Audience Owner sets the priorities for what needs are most important to address both short and long term, and makes recommendations / plans for how to address them

-Serves a vital role in crafting business plans with appropriate measures to ensure these objectives are being met. They also assist in monitoring them, make appropriate mid-course adjustments, and is ultimately accountable for the results. They are able to allocate or shift resources appropriately

-Serves a vital role with the Director of Parenting in laying out content calendars for what messages are most important to convey, and works with the Content Working Group to put them on a running 18-month calendar and to fill in content gaps with new media vehicles

-Manages or develops outside relationships with ministries or individuals as necessary to provide programs and services for audience, as part of maintaining that on-going relationship an oversight of all technical and operational requirements and services necessary to develop, maintain, or improve partnerships is necessary as well

-Works with Marriage Ministry on special projects

-Serves in a vital role for developing parenting strategies, budgets, products, seminars, etc.

-Stays current regarding parenting research, Focus parenting projects, ministry happenings regarding parenting related messages and projects

-Serves as an advocate to other ministries and departments on ways to promote parenting ideas and messaging

-Serves a vital role with parenting projects such as parenting magazines, assessments and on-line communities

-Helps develop and implement strategies related to maximizing the impact of our parenting assessment

-Serves a vital role in developing strategic plans and business plans for accomplishing program goals and objectives

-Identifies and contacts alliance partners and individuals who could assist in spreading the Focus on the Family parenting message

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

-Performs other related duties as assigned

Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:

-Potentially manages direct reports along with relationships across all ministry functions

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

-Office environment -Travels as needed to parenting conferences, representing Focus with a booth and select products

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Character/Spiritual:

Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Focus; adheres to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith; upholds Focus on the Family's ministry in prayer Demonstrates behaviors aligned with FOF core values

Personal Characteristics:

-Has a passion for serving a parenting audience -"We could if" versus "We cant because" approach to problem solving -Ability to sort through traditional or historic corporate approaches or stated limitations and develop new and creative ways to solve problems and meet needs of new and existing constituents -Creativity, imagination, team oriented, and ability to influence others

Knowledge/Experience:

-Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience, project management or other related discipline preferred -3-5 years of professional experience with evidence of increasing responsibility -3-5 years of project management or similar function -Thorough understanding of Focus on the Family mission, philosophy, values, and objectives

Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts:

-Ability to translate broad vision into specific creative tasks -Ability to effectively across ministry boundaries and effective influence and collaborate with ministry partners -Ability to manage stresses and pressure of multiple projects and strict deadlines -Familiarity with PC platforms and software including MS Office, MS Project, and other standard tools -Excellent listening skills -Strong attention to detail

Internal candidates will be given first consideration for this position.

The starting salary for this position is $4050 per month.

***Please note this position will start after October 1, 2008.***
