Focus on the Family is a non-profit 501(c)3 religious organization dedicated to the nurturing and defending of families worldwide.
General Purpose/Summary Statement:
The Senior Data Warehouse Application Developer position exists to participate in the technical development of the data warehouse as an enterprise- wide reporting solution through the development, testing, and implementation of multi-dimensional data marts, end-user query libraries and other DW solutions. The Sr. Data Warehouse Application Developer also provides more advanced ad-hoc reports and analysis-using SQL based tools for departments without access to the data warehouse.
-Provides the lead role in the business requirements analysis for data mart development, programming/developing advanced data mart applications in multidimensional database software, programming advanced extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) routines using SQL based extraction tools, developing end-user query libraries for ad-hoc analysis purposes, data warehouse quality assurance functions, validation-testing procedures, end user software training and end user application assistance, interacts with business clients (internal departments) to ensure data warehousing applications meet user requirements.
-Performs advanced ad-hoc financial and marketing analyses requested by ministry project owners and departments, including but not limited to donor analysis and trending, statistical modeling, product analysis, response analysis and other analyses. Provides analysis services to business clients (internal departments), not having access to the data warehouse, to meet their information and strategic business needs
-Manages Data Warehouse software development for ministry projects based on Focus on the Familys software development lifecycle (SDLC)
-Designs and builds Data Warehouse software solutions to meet specific ministry requirements, with an eye toward usability, maintainability, reuse, and performance
-Adheres to FOF standard software development methodology
-Oversees handoff of newly developed applications to other departments within the IT department according to the SDLC.
-Provides training throughout the business community in complex data analysis techniques and SQL/Query techniques
-Establishes priorities for tasks and organizes complex projects into achievable segments
-Conducts thorough inquiries to determine clients business information needs
-Designs and implements Data Warehouse process improvements
-Tracks and reports time and progress against project plan milestones
-Adheres to procedures for Incident Management, Problem Management, Release Management, Service Level Management, Capacity Management, Availability Management, Change Management and Configuration Management
-Perform other duties as assigned

-Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Information Systems or Business -5-7 years experience in general business and information systems design -5-7 years of performing analysis to meet customer information and business needs -Knowledgeable on AS400 operations -Knowledge of SQL Server and SQL Reporting Services -Advanced Hyperion Essbase experience; or comparable multidimensional platform experience -Experience in building Windows interfaces a plus -Strong experience with SQL and/or SQL interface tool -Understanding of systems development lifecycles a plus -Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access -Strong information systems process background -Understanding of data warehousing -Knowledge of SOA practices and principles
