General Purpose / Summary Statement:
The Vice President, Content Development and Integration position exists to provide expertise and management leadership in the creation and exploitation of intellectual property across a variety of channels and media platforms. This individual guides a cross-functional team of direct and indirect staff and develops processes to ensure that FOF content is fully utilized across media channels according to the strategies, goals and objectives of the Audience Owner Group, which are aligned with the ministrys mission and pillars as well as the ministry and financial objectives for product development.

Essential Responsibilities:

-Works closely with Senior and Executive Management Teams and Audience Owners and other internal and external content developers in the strategic development and prioritization of new content and the repurposing of existing content across a variety of delivery platforms

-Provides executive leadership to the Global Content Working Group that is responsible for reviewing content opportunities, determining ways of exploiting new and existing content and recommends projects to be pursued, and in managing the GATE process for content creation

-Makes decisions about how new content properties will be developed, and serves on the core executive publishing team making decisions about what new properties will be developed and how they will be funded

-Negotiates and approves author and production contracts; consults with legal counsel as necessary

-Supervises all editors, executive producers, and content creators to ensure content quality

-Manages and makes decisions regarding processes, policies and procedures for employee-produced creative work

-Serves as an executive level liaison with Focus on the Familys foreign offices, affiliates and partners to allow their participation in the content evaluation and development process

-Represents, writes and speaks on behalf of Focus on the Family as needed in the areas of content development and exploitation and related subjects

-Serves as Division head for administrative, financial and personnel matters

-Maintains an up-do-date knowledge of media and production trends

-Reviews and assesses project and staff performance

-Approves overall department staffing levels

-Guides the preparation of the departments annual budget

-Consults with legal counsel as required

-Builds, equips and maintains a highly motivated, forward thinking, highly creative team

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

-Performs other duties as assigned

Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:

-Manages a large and diverse staff of more than 100 employees, including 9 direct reports

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:

-Office environment -Frequent domestic travel, some international travel likely

-Bachelor's degree in Product Development disciplines, Communications, Marketing or related fields -15+ years of experience in creative development, particularly in leading editorial teams -Demonstrated ability to manage projects on time, on strategy, on budget -Prior proven, successful experience working in a variety of media channels, particularly broadcasting, magazine and publishing -Extensive knowledge of emerging server based media channels and trends -Thorough understanding of FOF mission, philosophy, values, and objectives -Thorough understanding of political, social, and cultural issues that impact the family -Prior experience working in or with foreign offices or worldwide organizations

Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts:

-Sensitivity to the needs, cultural sensitivities, and capabilities of FOF global partners -Excellent organizational skills -Polished social and communication skills, both written and oral -Ability to develop strategic and creative plans for multiple function division -Requires considerable ingenuity and judgment to solve complex problems -Ability to manage, mentor, motivate and develop creative staff

Stewardship Requirements:

-Responsible for annual budget in excess of $20million
