Water Missions International is a Christian Ministry, whose mission is to provide access to safe water and an opportunity to hear the good news of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ to the hundreds of millions of people throughout the world who lack these basic essentials to life.
The Director of International Programs position is key to the success of the overall ministry of Water Missions International. This role will have a tremendous impact on the effectiveness and growth of WMIs international programs.
As with all positions in the organization, this position is as much a calling, as it is a job. This person must sense a clear calling from God and a heartfelt passion for our mission. The person must be engaged in an active relationship with the Lord. He or she must be able to embrace and support the organizations Statement of Faith.
Because our mission is global, urgent, and enormous, the person in this position must have the temperament and energy to be a leader in an entrepreneurial environment. The person must have the ability and be willing to fulfill multiple roles and tasks and must not only be comfortable in, but energized by, a highly fluid and rapidly changing work environment. This person must be able to grow professionally as the organization grows.
Under the direction of the VP of International Programs, the Director of International Programs is responsible for developing, directing, monitoring, and maintaining country programs to insure sustainability and effectiveness. The individual is responsible for evaluating new community development opportunities and existing country programs and ensuring they are actively following Water Missions Internationals standard operating procedures for program implementation. Additional responsibilities include managing project communications and logistics, coordinating volunteer activities, and assisting the engineering department in the area of project management. The Director of International Programs is the principal contact with all country programs, and has primary responsibility for ensuring that the programs are run effectively in order to carry out WMIs Vision, Mission, and Purpose. This is accomplished by working closely with in-country organizations and personnel and clearly communicating our goals of establishing sustainable partnerships and relationships. This position may require travel to remote locations in developing countries to build relationships, train/equip potential leaders, and lay the groundwork for on-going development projects within the country.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Develop, Direct, Monitor, and Maintain Country Water Programs
Assist in establishing Standard Operating Procedures for existing and proposed country programs
Perform Project Management tasks including using scope of work, project budget, project schedule, and periodic project status reports
Conduct field inspections and site assessments as well as train others in developing countries and disaster areas
Prepare written budget proposals, program proposals and cost estimates
Report country program performance against budget, goals and measures
Prepare and deliver presentations to WMI staff, Board of Directors, Partners, Volunteers, and donors as needed
Schedule, plan, and participate in overseas trips
Evaluate people and organizations for potential ministry partnerships
Minimum education and work experience
Minimum of 5 years experience in management and leadership positions
Demonstrated experience in Christian ministry, evangelism and discipleship
Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD/PowerCADD)
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Excellent analytical and supervisory skills
Excellent project management skills
Excellent relationship and mentoring skills
An understanding of and commitment to the mission to provide access to safe water and an opportunity to hear the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ to people in need throughout the world
A clear, God given calling to the Mission
Ability to mentor and disciple others in the Christian faith and ministry work
An understanding of and ability to work with Board Members, volunteers, and all levels of staff
