Job Description:
Water Missions International (WMI) is a Christian ministry whose mission is to provide worldwide access to safe water and the Christian gospel message.

This position is a calling from God and the President/ CEO must be dedicated to serving Him through WMIs mission. WMI is beginning a transitional growth that will take it from its contemporary status to one of vastly increased capacity and complexity able to meet the worlds need. The President/ CEOs primary task is to lead WMI from its current entrepreneurial job-shop status to a steady-state production operation capable of continued growth.

Several functions of WMI must be developed to allow this expansion. Strategic partners must be found to provide modalities to reach needy countries and to provide in-kind resources. Donors are needed to provide financial resources. A capital campaign is essential. Avenues for marketing WMI systems and services to government and commercial organizations in disaster relief must be explored and exploited. Production facilities must be expanded to manufacture systems at a much greater pace. Engineering must be refined to adapt water purification systems to local requirements. Financial and management systems need sophistication to assure accurate costing and reporting. Strategies for integrating the gospel message appropriately with the provision of WMI systems and services are needed. The WMI organization must be developed to ensure concurrent expansion of all these functions so that the expectations of needy recipients, donors, and strategic partners are met.


Establish and review on a periodic basis with the Board of Directors a strategic plan for WMIs expansion
Translate the strategic plan into annual budgets that will achieve the plans objectives
Oversee principal staff in the expansion of strategic partners, donors, marketing, production means, product design and engineering, and accounting systems to achieve plan and budget objectives
Provide energetic and aggressive leadership in coordinating and inspiring principal staff actions to achieve objectives
Represent WMI to the public and support appropriately the staffs development of relations with strategic partners, donors, and government and commercial organizations
Develop the WMI staff spiritually and professionally to meet the challenges of WMIs mission
Maintain a priority dedication to the WMI mission of appropriately providing the gospel message as well as safe water to needy recipients

Education and experience:

The President/CEO must have an education commensurate with the intellectual, organizational and spiritual challenges of the WMI mission. A masters degree is required in a closely related field. Experience in engineering management, financial management, fundraising, marketing, and productions and operations management is highly desirable.

An understanding of and commitment to the mission to provide access to safe water and an opportunity to hear the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ to people in need throughout the world
A clear call by God to the WMI mission
A collegial approach to leadership and management that incorporates direction from the Board of Directors and input from staff and volunteers
The flexibility to lead and manage as an entrepreneur in the opening stage of WMIs growth and as CEO of a mature WMI as its scale increases
A self-starter who solves problems without prodding but knows when to ask for counsel
Dignity and presence that command respect and acceptability from all whom WMI might contact and cultivate
The impeccable honesty and integrity in conducting WMI business that demonstrates to those who invest in WMI a sense of security and trust in the stewardship of their gifts
The physical and mental capacity for hard work and long hours
