The Mission

The mission of International Justice Mission is to protect people from violent forces of injustice by securing rescue and restoration for victims and ensuring public justice systems work for the poor.

The Need
International Justice Mission (IJM) is a dynamic and highly professional organization experiencing exponential growth. The Regional Director of Operations will be based in Washington DC, and have principal responsibility for the leadership of assigned overseas field offices (FOs).

Direct FO intervention efforts in IJMs Africa offices; supervise the FO Directors charged with casework selection and strategy, budgeting, personnel, and training;
Regularly report the progress of FO casework goals to executive management;
Manage the establishment of new FO offices, including hiring and training FO staff, setting mission goals and strategies, forming key constituent relationships, and traveling to the host country to develop contacts prior to deployment of the FO Director;
Contribute to the development of IJMs Justice Operations Division, including development of international contacts, design of information systems, training of volunteers and staff, and coordination between the FOs and IJM headquarters departments;
In cooperation with IJMs Department of Investigations, develop a strategy for investigating and documenting human rights abuses;
Assist the executive team in coordinating and communicating intervention strategies and activities with referring overseas Christian ministries, agencies in the international human rights community and public multinational organizations;
Regularly participate in on-site investigations of allegations of human rights abuses in foreign countries; and
As assigned, represent IJMs intervention programs before government organizations, media outlets, Christian churches and para-church entities.

*What is a statement of faith?
A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM. The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document and should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.

Required Skills and Experience
Juris Doctor degree or international equivalent;
Minimum of five years of litigation experience (criminal litigation preferred);
Minimum of three years experience in leading and managing teams;
Significant experience designing, managing, and evaluating programs;
Experience working in a cross-cultural or developing world setting;
Demonstrated ability to conceive, articulate and execute legal or investigative strategies;
Demonstrated diplomacy in professional settings;
Demonstrated ability to promote team building and management of intervention strategies;
Ability to supervise the work of team members from other disciplines such as investigators, social workers, and administrators;
Experience managing a departmental budget or comparable financial management experience;
Ability to communicate, coordinate, and build relationships with overseas ministries, churches, fellowships, parachurch organizations and media; and
Experience providing spiritual leadership to others.

Travel Requirements
Significant travel to Africa (roughly 3-4 months per year).
