Position Name: Occupational Therapist
Position Location: Changsha, China

The Occupational Therapist will perform assessments, treatments and reviews for children with physical and mental disabilities at ICC Changsha. In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in helping the children gain independent, productive and satisfying lives.

You will be reporting to the Expertise Team (Therapy Manager).

Areas of Responsibilities:
Test and evaluate childrens therapy needs based on relevant physical, psychological, environmental and social issues;
Plan, coordinate and conduct occupational therapy programs designed to help children adjust to their disabilities;
Help children improve basic motor functions and reasoning abilities to perform tasks in their daily living environments such as dressing, cooking and eating;
Use physical exercises to help children increase strength and dexterity;
Utilize activities to help children improve cognitive abilities, social and living skills
Instruct children with permanent disabilities in the use of adaptive equipment such as wheelchairs, orthotics and aids for eating and dressing;
Assist in the fabrication and fitting of splints, braces and other adaptive devices for the children and the establishment of 24 hour positioning regimes;
Participate in the design of special equipments;
Help children participate as fully as possible in educational programs and activities;
Perform early intervention therapy services to infants and toddlers with the risk of developmental delays;
Educate and counsel children, foster parents and staff regarding treatment plans and health maintenance;
Monitor childrens progress throughout treatments and prepares records and reports;
Review treatment to ensure effectiveness;
Participate in training other ICC personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives;
Practice safety and infection control methods; and
Assist in purchase, maintenance and storage of supplies and equipment.

3 years experience as an Occupational Therapist working in a capacity that required direct patient assessment, individualized treatment plan design and progress assessment;
Demonstrated knowledge of a range of therapy methods and techniques; experience in the field of Learning disability, ASD and ADHD is desirable but not essential
Demonstrated ability to fabricate and fit a range of adaptive devices for individual patients and to instruct in their use and maintenance;
Knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice;
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, psychology and learning difficulties;
Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by children and staff;
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards;
Demonstrated ability to gain trust and observe what individuals are unable to express;
Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonall communication skills;
Demonstrated cross cultural proficiency;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people and project areas;
Motivated and innovative in the area of continuing education and practice to encourage the professional growth of self and others;
Demonstrated ability to train and support staff members;
Problem-solving, critical thinking and decision making abilities;
Exceptional organizational capabilities and program implementation skills;
Strong code of ethics and professionalism;
Fluency in mandarin is an asset; and
Extensive Uunderstanding of Chinese culture.

Education: Undergraduate Bachelors degree and/or Masters in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
