Job Description:
Position Name: Nutritionist/Dietitian
Position Location: Changsha, China
Position Start Date: As soon as possible
Minimum Length of Service: 3 months

Funding for Position: Self funded

As Nutritionist, you will assess the childrens nutritional needs/risks, develop and implement nutrition programs, and evaluate and report the results. In collaboration with the ICC Changsha team, you are responsible for overseeing large-scale meal planning and preparation to improve the nutritional status of the children.

You will be reporting to the Changsha Project Manager and Expertise Team.

Areas of Responsibilities:
Assess nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans;
Coordinate recipe development and standardization for master menus as well as individual therapeutic menus;
Conduct nutrition education classes for children, foster families and staff on nutritional principles, dietary plans, and food selection and preparation;
Develop policies for nutritional programs to assist in health promotion and disease control;
Monitor and evaluate the food service systems;
Train workers who plan, prepare and serve meals;
Educate staff on certain sanitary and safety regulations;
Confer with doctors and other health care team members to coordinate medical and nutritional needs; and
Plan, conduct, and evaluate dietary, nutritional, and epidemiological research relevant to children with disabilities.

3 years experience in providing nutritional assessment and developing dietary plans in a health setting for children and youths;
Demonstrated knowledge of dietetics, including physiology and digestion process of the human body, nutritional requirements of people of varying age and degrees of health, and principles of sanitation and food spoilage;
Basic knowledge of food production techniques in China is an asset;
Aware of new developments in the field of nutrition;
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated management skills and ability to train and support staff members;
Conflict resolution capabilities;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people and project areas;
Problem-solving, critical thinking and decision making abilities;
Exceptional organizational capabilities and program implementation skills;
Knowledge of Mandarin is an asset; and
Understanding of Chinese culture.

Education: Bachelor degree or Masters in Food and Nutrition. Professionally registered Dietitian/Nutritionist.
