Position Name: Physiotherapist
Position Location: Changsha
Position Start Date: Immediately
Minimum Length of Service: 3 months

Funding for Position: Self funded

The Physiotherapist will provide "hands on" assessment, diagnostic, rehabilitative and preventative services within an interdisciplinary health team at ICCs Changsha operation. Your goal is to evaluate the childrens needs based on present disability, prescribe individualized treatment plans and ultimately ensure the realization of maximum physical mobility and functional independence. Also to provide training and instruction to the local therapy assistants so that treatment programs can be continued at the end of service period.

You will be reporting to the Therapy Manager (Expertise Team)

Areas of Responsibilities:
Evaluate children and young peoples physical function and need for Physiotherapy services;
Diagnose problems and recommend appropriate and cost effective treatment;
Utilize a holistic approach in prescribing treatment plans;
Take into consideration any psychological, cultural or social factors that may influence the childs role in actively helping themselves when designing treatment programs;
Treat children and young people through therapeutic movements, physical manipulation, massage, and the usage of technological equipments;
Advocate the dignity, autonomy, and self-respect of the children and young people;
Safeguard the trust of, and information learned from the children and young people;
Develop, coordinate and facilitate education/teaching, based on the needs of the children and young people, therapy assistants, foster families and care givers, on treatment program implementation and prevention of injury;
Monitor the delivery of treatment delegated to the child or young person, foster family, therapy assistants or care givers.
Liaise and collaborate with other health care personnel to supply and receive relevant information about the background and progress of children and young people, as well as to refer those who require other specific medical attention;
Provide coaching and leadership to peers;
Maintain organized and concise records of children and young peoples progress;
Troubleshoot and ensure timely and appropriate maintenance and repairs on therapeutic equipment; and
Keep up to date with new treatment technologies.

2 years experience in a Physiotherapy capacity that required direct patient assessment, individualized treatment plan design and progress assessment;
Knowledge of cognitive and functional development and impairment related to physiotherapy including anatomy, physiology and pathology in a variety of age groups;
Demonstrated ability to apply therapeutic and technological processes;
Able to educate children, young people and caregivers on appropriate self-care methods and techniques;
Demonstrated ability to gain trust and observe what individuals are unable to express;
Demonstrated ability to maintain self control and adapt to changing circumstances;
Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
Demonstrated cross cultural proficiency;
Motivated and innovative in the area of continuing education and practice to encourage the professional growth of self and others;
Demonstrated ability to train and support staff members;
Problem-solving, critical thinking and decision making abilities;
Good organizational capabilities and program implementation skills;
Strong code of ethics and professionalism;
Fluency in mandarin is an asset; and
Understanding of Chinese culture.

Bachelors and/or Masters in Physiotherapy from an accredited program
