As the Art Therapist in ICCs orphanage operations, you will utilize the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of the children under the care of ICC. You will also provide essential contribution in the assessment, diagnosis, and rehabilitation in the area of mental and emotional health.
You will be reporting to the Therapy Manager (Expertise team).

Areas of Responsibilities:
Draw upon knowledge of psychology, own practice as an artist, and dynamics within the therapeutic relationship to facilitate healing processes through art;
Integrate the fields of human development, visual art (drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art forms), and the creative process with models of counseling and psychotherapy;
Where appropriate, devise art therapy programs to fulfill childrens specific physical and psychological needs;
Create a safe and facilitating environment where the children can securely express their feelings;
Assist children in their attempts to discern the difference between reality and the fantasies that often accompany extreme stress, environmental events, and mental or emotional disorders;
Appraise childrens recovery progress;
Participate as member of an interdisciplinary team where insights and conclusions are shared for the childrens diagnosis and treatment programs; and
Coordinate the training and development of staff in administering appropriate care throughout art therapy programs; and
Manage art material needs and repair equipment where necessary.

Considerable understanding of art processes underpinned by a sound knowledge of therapeutic practice;
Experience working with children with learning disabilities in the areas of health, education and/or social care;
Experience in working with children from various cultures;
Good organizational capabilities and program implementation skills;
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people and project areas;
Demonstrated ability to train and support staff members;
Artistic skill and proven creativity;
Fluency in mandarin is an asset; and
Understanding of Chinese culture is an asset.

Demonstrated Godly character, with integrity, honesty and humility;
Emotional stability, sensitivity and patience; and
Demonstrated passion for and compassion in working with mentally and physically disabled children.

Postgraduate Art Therapy Diploma or a Graduate (Masters) degree/diploma in Art Therapy at a professionally accredited institution.
