As Social Worker, you will provide social services and assistance in the areas of foster placement and training to improve the social and psychological functioning of disabled children, and maximize family well-being.
You will be reporting to the Expertise Team; working alongside the Foster Care Dept staff.
Areas of Responsibilities:
Evaluate children's physical and psychological makeup to determine needs and formulate recommendations for support plans, alongside medical and therapy personnel;
Determine appropriate placement planning and scheduling;
Recruit potential foster/adopt families;
Evaluate foster home environmental factors and personal characteristics of foster care applicants to determine suitability of foster;
Investigate home conditions to protect children from harmful environments;
Orient, train and educate foster parents;
Place children in foster homes and counsel foster parents where necessary;
Ensure childs well-being in his/her foster home and maintain regular therapeutic contact with him/her;
Aid parents with child rearing problems such as difficulties in social adjustments and help them develop effective family and parenting skills;
Counsel children, foster parents and/or ICC staff concerning adjustment to foster home situation, child care plans, behavior modifications needed, and/or rehabilitation;
Refer child and foster parent to other resources internally within ICC and externally within the community according to childs needs;
Provide ongoing evaluation of the placement home;
Collaborate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the childrens ultimate well-being;
Ensure up-to-date knowledge on the Chinese Governments proposed and actual legislations, statutory regulations, and Government guidance and standards relevant to children in need; and
Maintain accurate case history records and reports in accordance with policy and good practice.
5 years experience in a Child Social Worker capacity that required direct child assessment, family placement/training, placement evaluation and cooperation with other health team members;
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in casework methods acquired through degree programs;
Basic knowledge of psychosocial and psychotherapeutic methods and sources;
Knowledge of physical and mental illnesses and their effects on personality;
Ability to establish rapport and trust with children and their foster families;
Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
Demonstrated cross cultural proficiency;
Customer service focused;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people and project areas;
Demonstrated commitment to colleagues, team objectives and joint goals;
Problem-solving, critical thinking and decision making abilities;
Exceptional organizational capabilities and program implementation skills;
Strong code of ethics, objectivity and professionalism;
Fluency in mandarin; and
Understanding of Chinese culture.

Demonstrated Godly character, with integrity, honesty and humility;
Emotional maturity, sensitivity and patience; and
Compassion and desire to advocate for orphaned and disabled children.
Bachelors degree and/or Masters in Social Work from an accredited program.
