International China Concern is a Christian development organization changing lives through bringing love, hope and opportunity to Chinas abandoned and disabled children and young adults.
The China Operations Centre (COC) provides the oversight of all of ICCs China based work. As the Research and Project Development Manager, you will work within the COC to facilitate the development of new project initiatives. As the Research and Project Development Manager, you have the critical role in establishing a department that can research the trends within Chinese social welfare, whilst assessing development project opportunities on behalf of ICCs Director of China Operations. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to develop a team that will initiate, develop and implement new projects into the rest of China.
The mandate of the ICC Research and Project Development Department of the COC is to:
- Facilitate the development of relationships with departments of the Chinese government, Chinese Social Welfare Centres, Chinese non-governmental organisations and other overseas non-profit organisations that are operating in China.
- Research and develop new project opportunities for ICC as we seek to expand our work to other cities across China.
- Support the initiation and development of new projects during the start-up phase by acting as a resource to the Project Manager and the Project Team.
You will be reporting to the Director of China Operations and will work closely with the China Operations Centre managers in order to realise the COC Strategic Plan.
Areas of Responsibilities include:
Develop and enhance strong relationships with departments of the Chinese government, Chinese Social Welfare Centre, Chinese non-governmental organisations and other overseas non-profit organisations operating in China.
Identify partnership opportunities and make recommendations to the Director of China Operations.
Develop and lead a full-time Research and Project Development team.
Utilize ICC Project Managers and other leadership / management in the research and development of new project partnership / initiatives as we seek to expand our work to other parts of China.
Conduct research initiatives at the request of the Director of China Operations.
Research and report on trends within China, especially in social welfare.
Research, report on and utilise resources to establish boundaries and legal rights concerning co-operations, joint ventures etc.
Conduct preliminary negotiations of possible project partnerships on behalf of the Director of China Operations.
Work with potential ICC Project Managers to identify suitable projects for initiation and support the research, assessment and proposal writing stages of project development.
Provide support to new ICC projects during the start-up phase and stabilization phase by acting as a resource to the project managers and project teams.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people and project areas.
Ability to develop and lead a small team and deliver results by embracing a team approach.
Experience in interacting with government officials and leaders in a Chinese / international cross cultural setting.
Ability to write progress reports and basic project proposals.
Passion for working with the poor and needy.
Basic fluency in mandarin.
Good understanding of Chinese culture.
Willingness to travel around China on a regular basis.
Strong walk with God; sound in doctrine and practice.
Willingness to uphold and walk out the vision and values of ICC.
Demonstrated Godly character, with integrity, honesty and humility.
Demonstrated passion for and compassion in working with the poor and needy.
University degree in International Development or related field and a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
