Position Name: Medical Doctor
Position Location: Changsha, China
Position Start Date: As soon as possible

The Medical Doctor will assist with the diagnosis and treatment of children and young people in the care of ICC Changsha using appropriate equipment, tests and procedures. Your goal is to support the control and cure of a variety of physical illnesses and diseases and provide particular care to the rehabilitation of the physically challenged and those with learning difficulties.

You will be reporting to the Expertise Team (Medical Director).

Areas of Responsibilities:
Examine childrens medical conditions;
Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests;
Utilize medical equipment, instruments and tests;
Determine the degree of disability in patients;
Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions;
Treat day-to-day illnesses such as minor injuries, infectious diseases, and immunizations;
Counsel children regarding concerns and preventative health plans;
Track childrens growth to adulthood;
Obtain and maintain accurate medical histories;
Monitor treatment and care plans;
Track childrens recovery progress and evaluate treatment outcomes using medical measures as appropriate;
Maintain appropriate quality, safety, and/or infection control standards;
Engage in research to aid in the control and cure of diseases;
Persist in being continuously educated in medical advancements and practices through appropriate research;
Participate in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs;
Instruct foster parents and other staff members in appropriate health care based on childs medical needs;
Collaborate as a member of a multi-disciplinary health team and provide medical consultation and knowledge to other medical and non-medical staff;
Mentor local Chinese medical staff
Assist in directing and coordinating care activities of nursing and support staff as required;
Refer children to specialists and other appropriate sources of treatment; and
Assist in the purchase, repair and storage of medical equipment.

5 years experience acting independently in a Medical Doctor role demonstrating sound clinical judgment in the diagnosis and treatment of individuals conditions and disorders;
Demonstrate knowledge of how to apply standard concepts, practices and procedures within the field of medicine;
Experience in administering appropriate medical tests, and interpreting and applying test results;
Demonstrated ability to develop appropriate treatment plans based on clinical and formal medical assessments performed on patients;
Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care;
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards;
Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals;
Advanced research capabilities;
Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in emergencies;
Ability to manage stress;
Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops;
Demonstrated cross cultural proficiency;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people and project areas;
Demonstrated ability to train and support staff members;

Fluency in mandarin is an asset; and
