The Child Psychologist will provide a range of mental health services, including direct clinical services such as formal psychological assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention. In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team at ICC Changsha, you will develop, implement and evaluate individualized programs for children with developmental problems that stem from psychological, behavioural and/or psychiatric illness.
You will be reporting to the Changsha Project Manager and Expertise Team.
Areas of Responsibilities:
Investigate problems concerning growth and development of emotional, mental, physical, and social aspect of children, youths, and adults in the care of ICC
Undertake psychological mental health assessments, including interviews, appropriate formal psychological testing, results interpretation and preparation of comprehensive reports, and interprets these to other professionals/team members as appropriate;
Administer intelligence and performance tests to establish and measure patterns of intellectual and psychological growth, development, and decline in children and adults;
Develop treatment plans such as individual and/or group therapy that include appropriate evidence-based psychological interventions;
Monitor treatment and/or care plans;
Evaluate treatment outcomes using psychological measures as appropriate;
Refer children to other appropriate sources of treatment (such as art therapy, speech therapy, music therapy);
Collaborate as a member of a multi-disciplinary health team and provide a psychological consultative/educative service and training to staff who work directly with the children;
Recommend acquisition of necessary psychological testing materials as a qualified professional and ensures appropriate test use, safe-keeping and confidential disposal of obsolete test materials;
Oversee the use of tests and inventories by other team members who are not psychologists; and
Maintain appropriate psychological administrative records.
5 years experience acting independently as a primary clinician demonstrating sound clinical judgement in the diagnosis and treatment of children and youth with mental health conditions and disorders;
Experience in administering appropriate psychological tests, and interpreting and applying test results;
Demonstrated ability to develop appropriate treatment plans based on clinical and formal psychological assessments performed on children, youths, and/or adults;
Ability to utilize standardized psychological outcome measures and to apply research skills for the purpose of program evaluation;
Broad knowledge of current psychological research;
Advanced research capabilities;
Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
Demonstrated cross cultural proficiency;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people and project areas;
Demonstrated ability to train and support staff members;
Problem-solving, critical thinking and decision making abilities;

Fluency in mandarin is an asset; and
Understanding of Chinese culture.

Education: Undergraduate degree in Psychology specializing in Child Psychology at an accredited University. Individual certification with a professional psychological association. Masters and/or Ph.D in Child Psychology from an accredited program preferred.
