Title: Ophthalmic Ship Team Coordinator
Reports To: Ophthalmic Surgical Division Coordinator; if this position not filled, then to Patient Services Coordinator

Summary Description
Coordinate the daily operations of the ship ophthalmic team responsible for pre-/post-operative assessment and care of ophthalmic surgical and medical patients. Long-term commitment preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

* Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the ophthalmic ship team while on field service and monitor the quality of care being provided.

* Maximize efficiency while providing high quality patient care.

* Facilitate referrals of patients to appropriate treatment centers for conditions not addressed by our surgical services (i.e. eyeglasses, retinal problems, etc.).

* Orient volunteers to their roles within the team, providing materials as needed.

* Provides for the spiritual direction and well-being of the ophthalmic ship-based team.

* Maintain a current manual for all positions within the ship-based ophthalmic team.

* Serve as liaison among operating room, ophthalmic field team, and ophthalmic ship team

* Provide direction for procurement of supplies and equipment needed for outpatient ophthalmic care, working to simplify and standardize requirements.

* Participate in program development, project proposals for eye care program and in development/implementation of operating policy/procedures.

* Monitor and evaluate progress toward project objectives, submitting reports in a timely manner and modifying activities as needed to achieve targets.

* Develop and implement educational information, materials, and programs for discharge planning and teaching of health care consumers.

* Attend and participate in all official community and departmental meetings.

* Recruit new HealthCare crew as needed by speaking at local medical meetings, visiting hospitals, providing tours and answering questions for interested medical people who visit the ship.

* Other responsibilities as delegated.

Education and Experience
The requirements listed below are representative of the education and / or experience required.

* Ophthalmic experience beneficial, but not required.

* Previous leadership experience
