Job Description:

Executive Director – Agape Counseling Associates


The Executive Director manages all aspects of Agape Counseling and reports to the board of directors.  This position works closely with the board to develop organizational vision, strategic planning, long-range planning and board development.

(1) Strategic Leadership:  Lead the organization by developing, directing and evaluating plans for agency services and development activities.  Continually seek to increase the quality of Agape’s services and broaden them to meet the spiritual, emotional and psychological needs of people in the Greater Rochester area. Ensure the sustainability of the organization and its values. Prepare and track annual budget. Review space needs, and negotiate leases as needed.


Strategic Agility



(2A) Development and Fundraising:  Identify and secure new funding streams to advance the mission.   Develop community relationships by involvement in the community personally and professionally.  Develop new donors and corporate partnerships.  Research and develop new sources of income.  Oversee annual fundraising events.

(2B) Public Relations:  Develop and promote Agape in the public and private sectors.  Increase public awareness of Agape and its services.


Interpersonal Savvy












(3) Internal Operations: (a) Report directly to the board.  Coordinate regular board meetings and provide timely information on current or potential successes and challenges.  Recruitment and training of new board members.

 (b) Manage office personnel.  Hire, train and supervise office staff. Provide on-going staff development.  Maintain positive staff morale.  Ensure all accounting functions are following GAAP.  Oversee financial reporting and report to board monthly. Manage all operation functions including oversight of administrative and clinical processes. 













Bachelor's degree and demonstrated success leading an organization, strategic leadership and fundraising are required.  Non-profit and healthcare administration experience a plus.  Master's degree preferred but not required with the appropriate proven experience.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking.
