Greetings from Panama ! We would like to invite you to pray about the possibility of serving the Lord at Crossroads Christian Academy (CCA) as an Elementary or Secondary Teacher. We have just started our 2015-16 school year and have filled all positions.
We are happy to begin receiving resumes for the 2016-17 school year. Openings will be posted by January 2016. CCA was founded in 1997 and is located in Panama City , Panama . The purpose of CCA is to glorify God by assisting the family and church to prepare
students to develop academically, spiritually and socially under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to support and encourage the spiritual and professional growth of our staff. CCA is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
and is member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
The student body at CCA consists of 260 students, from over 25 countries. At the present time, about 50% of the students are from expat families, 40% are Panamanian and 10% are missionary kids. CCA operates under a Board of Directors composed of Biblical Christians,
committed to serving the Lord, CCA staff and students. The school operates as a ministry of Crossroads Bible Church (CBC). CBC is an interdenominational evangelical church that ministers to both the English and Spanish speaking communities of Panama . The
school is located within the church facilities.
CCA provides a quality Christian education in the English language. We offer classes for children from preschool (for 4 year olds) through the 12th grade. Most grades are taught by teachers who are native-English speakers. The personnel is composed of 35 teachers
and staff. Approximately 80% are U.S. citizens, 10% are Panamanian, and 10% are from other countries. The school also enjoys a high level of parent interest and participation.
Panama is a rugged and mountainous country located on the narrow isthmus linking North and Central America with the South. It is in a tropical region between 7 and 9 degrees north of the equator and has two seasons, wet and dry. Panama City is a multinational,
modern metropolis with all the benefits and challenges of a large population center. Excellent medical care is available as is fine dining, modern apartments, and low cost shopping. The business district is frequently congested with heavy traffic despite the
recent construction of major by-pass highways, overpasses and one-way street systems in the downtown area. Good roads provide easy links between towns and tourist areas. Divers and surfers have many excellent opportunities to explore the waters off Panama
and National parks offer a variety of hiking options. And, of course, the Panama Canal is one of the greatest engineering feats of modern times. Panama is a safe and easy place to live and work. As in any modern city, reasonable precautions should be taken,
but violent crimes are uncommon.
Finances are an important consideration. CCA is able to offer teachers a base stipend of $1,000 per month for 12 months. The stipend may be slightly more depending on education and experience. The school will cover a local medical plan, airfare and immigration
costs for the teacher as well as suitable housing close to the school, and free schooling for up to two children. Due to the costs involved in bringing a staff member to Panama, we ask that staff sign a two year minimum teaching contract. The cost of living
in Panama is considered to be 10-20% higher than the average in the U.S. While a teacher can live on this stipend and housing allowance, it is recommended that teachers (especially those coming with additional family members) consider seeking additional financial
and prayer support from sponsors - such as their church, friends, or a missions agency.
CCA is more than a private school. It is a channel of full-time Christian ministry. We believe that God has had His hand in the formation and development of CCA. It has been a tremendous blessing to many families. We invite you to prayerfully consider coming
to Panama and joining in the ministry of CCA.
