Job Description:
Facilities Manager:

Maintenance of plant, equipment and buildings
Ensuring the regular maintenance (and repair when necessary) of all COPA plant and equipment: Truck, Motorbikes, Generators, buildings
Helping head teachers carryout regular maintenance checks to develop a habit of overseeing needed maintenance and developing a method of follow through to check that repairs have been made
Carrying out needed maintenance work using each as an opportunity to teach the local workers to learn and gain in proficiency
Supervising maintenance staff with the goal of training them to be more proactive in maintenance and care of tools and equipment
Management and updating of routine maintenance records
Preparing reports as appropriate
Together with others, hosting and directing the work of visiting work groups

Identifying refurbishment projects and communicating with the committees on the work that needs doing; in particular electrical systems, facilities in each accommodation block and anything else deemed necessary (so that work groups and fundraising activities can be organised)
Develop good links with the individuals on the US and UK committees so that a team can support maintenance and building projects, which will hopefully develop into the future.
Develop an annual inspection form for each building and service to allow long term maintenance issues to be identified.
Set up a system so that the team in the DR can report faults and repairs are undertaken as necessary
Ensure the success of the maintenance systems so that they are sustainable for the future through working with the maintenance staff and committees.
Working with the COPA caretakers, carry our maintenance tasks as necessary with a view to passing on skills
Procure and implement projects that can be undertaken by local craftspeople.
