Job Title:                         Technology Manager


SITE lOCATION:           3435 Birchwood Lane, San Jose, CA 95132

Work Hours:                  Monday - Friday (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Be a leader in the development, implementation, operation, monitoring, purchasing, and evaluating all aspects of the campus technology.  Encourage, train and assist staff in utilizing technology to maximize efficient use of resources.

¨       Assess the hardware, software, maintenance, repairs, and upgrade needs and develop a budget to meet those needs


IT Management

¨       Maintain the two campus network

¨       Conduct routine network administration and maintenance

¨       Maintain network documentation

¨       Manage virtual servers – Business Office, Domain, and Ekahau servers

¨       Ensure regular backups of server data are functioning.

¨       Manage cloud based services – Google apps, Blackbaud

¨       Add and remove users from applicable systems

¨       Maintain accurate records of IP addresses/ passwords/ user accounts

¨       Maintain technical security to include regular changing of passwords

¨       Install, maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot all hardware and software problems and determine a course to fix or replace

¨       Maintain accurate hardware and software inventory

¨       Maintain accurate software license documentation

¨       Apply operating system updates and configuration changes

¨       Maintain up-to-date virus software

¨       Reimage workstations as needed using Windows deployment services



¨       Develop a Technology Leadership Team

¨       Develop a Parent Technology Involvement Team

¨       Evaluate all technology decisions taking in consideration technology plan and budget needs provided by the Operations Manager

¨       Serve as contact person for all school technology needs, including preschool

¨       Coordinate activities of consultants, outside vendors, volunteers, and trainers

¨       Establish and document legal and ethical uses of technology

¨       Lead in the development of Acceptable Use Policy for students and staff

¨       Develop a Technology Plan and update every two years

¨       Establish a donation and recycling policy


Research and Evaluation

¨       Search for and evaluate new hardware and software to enhance educational goals

¨       Research emerging technologies and their impact on education



¨       Disseminate information relating to technology use to all users

¨       Research and implement new ways to improve electronic communication among stakeholders

¨       Create awareness of new/ innovative uses of technology



¨       Develop and maintain school website

¨       Research ways to improve the school website

¨       Develop and maintain school intranet

¨       Train others to maintain websites


Student Technology Program

¨       Provide tech support for the student technology program and assist the Technology Teachers and Principal in implementing the instructional program and integrating new technology


User Support

¨       Coordinate and/or deliver technology training for staff

¨       Develop a training plan for staff professional development

¨       Develop a campus technology research center for staff

¨       Regularly assess technology needs of users

¨       Regularly assess technology skills of users

¨       Develop and maintain a helpdesk with a knowledge base
