Purpose: The Water and Sanitation Coordinator is a full-time position, working in collaboration with the Global Relief Alliance (GRA) and reporting to the World Concern Country Director for Chad. This person will implement and coordinate all aspects of World Concerns water and sanitation program in Chad, assist in the design and development of new projects, and provide technical assistance to other programs as needed.
Responsibilities: Program Development by coordinating with government authorities, community leaders and other NGOs to determine the best locations for water/sanitation infrastructure projects (small dams, hafirs, canals, wells, latrines), develop a timeline of activities for the smooth running of the program, develop methods for tracking monitoring and evaluation indicators as per program proposals, set up the beneficiary selection committee and train in appropriate methodology, organize sensitization campaigns for selection committees, local partners and beneficiary families about the purpose of the Global Relief Alliance (G.R.A). program, develop curriculum for hygiene education, with the Agricultural Coordinator and Finance Manager to develop and implement a system for voucher payments for cash-for-work (CFW). Construction and Training - train construction supervisors in proper construction methods, oversee the training of laborers as necessary in technical construction methods, conduct regular field visits to oversee technical aspects of infrastructure construction, coordinate with Logistician to schedule and organize distribution of materials to work crews, train field staff in hygiene promotion materials. Cash for work (CFW) Supervision - oversee selection of CFW beneficiaries in collaboration with local authorities and community leaders, ensure proper system for supervision and accountability of CFW workers, regularly monitor the proper documentation of CFW labor. Activity Monitoring, Reporting and Accountability - ensure regular data collection for tracking monitoring indicators, submit report on meetings attended in representation of the GRA, submit regular reports of activities as required by the Country Director and donors, provide a weekly report of activities to Country Director, provide receipts for all program cash advances
Qualifications: Qualified individuals will have a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of World Concern, is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous Christ-like attitude in dealing with people , water engineering degree preferred, field experience in water programs (two years minimum), French or Arabic language proficiency, experience with managing staff.
