Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the installation, maintenance and proper technical operation and training of broadcast related equipment systems, transmitters, phone and computer equipment utilized in the state of Michigan. Responsible for building and station vehicle maintenance. Preparing and managing related budget. DAD point man. Practice engineering disciplines consistent to keep the FLC station compliant with FCC regulations and FLC network engineering standards. Assist with maintenance and deployment of broadcast related equipment in other FLC installations nationwide as may be required.

Essential Functions:
Maintain legal technical operation of station as Chief Operator
Responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, upgrade and repair of all broadcast equipment and computers including audio consoles, computer based audio storage devices, studio-transmitter links, AM/FM transmitters and broadcast related equipment
Assure all broadcast equipment operates in a manner that meets FCC requirements, Network Engineering standards, and good engineering practices
Respond immediately to technical emergencies to restore legal and quality station operation, back-ups when needed, troubleshoot the cause and implement immediate corrective action
Repair equipment in-house whenever possible; arrange for outside repair only when necessary
Assist the Network Engineering staff as needed to resolve technical problems related to the FLC satellite and T-1 delivery systems and network automation system
Assure technical set up of remote broadcasts
Oversee DAD configuration and technical operations
Provide technical training to station staff for all station equipment when needed
On-call and available to work overnight, weekends and holidays and to travel to all Michigan stations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic RF and audio troubleshooting to the schematic level
Configure Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro and XP Pro operating systems & networking hardware/software
Analog and digital audio routing parameters
General Computer skills using Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Office 2000

Minimum Qualifications:
5 years radio broadcast equipment maintenance experience including studio, IT/network systems, satellite receivers, audio and IT network distribution, AM & FM transmitter and antenna maintenance
Associates degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school
Working knowledge of ENCO DAD-32 or similar broadcast audio storage/automation

Preferred Qualifications:
Engineering degree from university, college or broadcast school
Satellite uplink experience
