Corps Officers


Minimum of Bachelors Degree in Human Services field or higher; previous experience in social service field; great communication skills; good computer skills; great networking skills; ability to maintain client confidentiality; flexibility in work schedule; motivated self starter; be a team player; ability to work 40+ hours in a work week; compassion for those who enter our doors; must be able to pass The Salvation Army background check; have good driving record and able to pass MVR check , computer skills or ability to learn them. ; and evidence of high moral and ability to adhere to the mission of The Salvation Army.


Supervise social services staff which includes Social Service Caseworker and Soup Kitchen Staff
Supervise all Corps Social Service programs
Assist in developing and implementing new social services funding
Assist in developing, organizing, administering and implementing new social service programs to meet ongoing community needs
Develop and implement social services community collaboration
Work with Emergency Disaster Services Coordinator for social service aspects
Work with the Strategic Plan Committee
Represent the Army in community social service meetings and events
Assist with the coordination of the Christmas community effort
Develop and implement appropriate software for community collaborative system to share social service information
Work closely with the United Way committee and be instrumental in developing the required social services outcome measurements
Submit social service portion of budget to Corps Officers
Construct ongoing budget recommendations and monitor expenditure control for the Social Service Department during the fiscal year
Develop, prepare and administer department goals and operational objectives while maintaining compliance with Army statues and regulations
Direct the conduct of analytical studies, development and review of reports and findings and alternatives and maintain accurate records and files
Develop & monitor a budget for Social Services Dept.
Evaluate program activity reports and the status of program workloads, assessing program accomplishments and needs for the Social Service Department
Represent the Army before professional, industrial and civic groups, explaining policies and goals to the public, elected officials and other governmental agencies
Negotiate service agreements and contracts with other government agencies, community organizations and serve providers as needed
Develop and maintain effective inter-agency working relationships
Assist the social services staff in providing monthly statistics to the Corps Officer
Assist in greeting visitors as needed
Share phone duties as needed
Promote the work of The Salvation Army
Serve as an advocate for children, families and the poor
Give input as to the hiring of additional social services staff when the need arises
Assist in the development and implementation of Army social service policies and procedures
Maintain compliancy with guidelines for licensing and accreditation
Attend seminars sponsored by the Army and other agencies regarding social concerns
Submit bi-weekly payroll of social services staff to the Business Manger
Conduct all aspects of Christmas Toy shop in conjunction with Corps Officers including registration, toy collection and distribution
Other duties as Assigned
