Job Description:

The Accounts Receivable Clerk supports the general operations of the Finance department by performing a variety of tasks related to the receipt of financial donations.  The A/R Clerk is responsible for maintaining the accounts receivable records for the organization; such as processing incoming funds, preparing donor receipts, data entry, and reporting.  


Primary Responsibilities

  • Collect and sort incoming mail
  • Accurately process and record daily accounts receivables
  • Code, input and balance credit card and direct debit transactions
  • Scan pledge cards
  • Maintain deposit records spreadsheet
  • Remove inactive staff funds and recurring gifts
  • Accurately prepare and mail receipts and accompanying inserts to the respective financial partners
  • Process incoming cash and prepare cash batches monthly
  • Prepare, process and review daily scanned bank deposits
  • Research financial partner issues for the Partner Development Team
  • Process  NSFs, distribution changes, refunds, duplicate receipts, and various other donation corrections
  • Prepare and appropriately distribute monthly reports
  • Provide guidance and supervision to Volunteers
  • Accurately maintain donor database and accounts receivable document files, ensuring confidentiality of ministry partner information


Other Responsibilities

  • Handle the change of address and emailing staff notifications
  • Back up support to others in the Finance Department
  • Special projects and miscellaneous assignments as assigned


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities, and Personal Characteristics



  • High school graduate, or equivalent with related experience or accounting related coursework
  •  A minimum of one to three years of related experience required
  • Work with a nonprofit or church-based organization desired


Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in Excel
  • Proficient in 10-key
  • General knowledge of accounting principles
  • Good communication skills
  • Solid planning and  organizational skills
  • Attentive to details and accurate
