Job Description:

Title:  Staff Hiring and Communications Manager

Classification:  Full Time, Salaried

Reports to: Director of People and Organizational Development

Key Relationships: Risk Management and Quality Assurance Specialist, Benefits and Compensation Coordinator, Ohio Valley Region Business Manager, Program and Operations Directors, and other Camp leaders


Position Summary:

Responsible for providing leadership in the recruitment, selection, orientation and on-boarding of ministry

Personnel, including employees, volunteers and student interns.  Performs a variety of administrative and support functions within the Human Resource Department, working closely and cooperatively with Camp program and operation leaders and support staff. Serves to support the Director of People and Organizational Development.  Works as a member of the HR Team and in other assigned tasks and functions.


Principle Duties and Job Functions:

  •  Develop and maintain job descriptions, organization charts, and an effective system for posting job openings both inside and outside the ministry
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive recruitment system to provide an adequate and diverse applicant candidate pool to fill ministry positions and staffing needs; develop and utilize social media, SpringHill’s websites, other job posting sites, promotional materials, and well developed networks colleges, churches, alumni, and others
  •  Develop, oversee and conduct staff interviewing, screening and selection processes that ensure all employment policies and practices are maintained within federal, state and local regulations and according to professional accreditation and best practice standards; assure reference and other background screening checks and Personnel Files and Records are completed in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Assure confidential recording and documentation (electronic storage) of screening, hiring training, and other employment activity. Provide support in the development and maintenance of ministry employment manuals, handbooks, and other staff training and communication materials
  • Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation and onboarding programs and processes; assist in planning and implementing an ongoing staff and leadership training and development program
  • Provide oversight for internal staff communication processes that assure high quality ministry-wide communication (i.e. staff rosters, newsletters, email messages, meetings, etc.)
  • Assist in the planning, development and execution of ministry staff performance evaluation, improvement, correction, recognition, and celebration programs and practices in support of SpringHill’s mission, values and vision
  • Provide support and assistance to other areas of Human Resources Management and serve to represent the Director of People and Organizational Development in the event of his/her absence 

Experience, Knowledge and Other Qualification Requirements:

  • Knowledge of and passion for SpringHill’s mission, values and philosophy of ministry
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience is preferred  
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in human resources, with SHRM certification preferred  
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and best practices related to employment policies and practices
  • Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software; experience with payroll software preferred
  • Ability to travel within all regions of SpringHill’s programs and services
