In this position, you will facilitate the work of Bible translation by developing web software solutions that meet Wycliffe's needs. You will build user interface applications and back-end databases using various programming and scripting languages, author complex web pages, and assist in project planning and web site design of three-tiered web applications.
To qualify for this position, you must have two years experience in software development that demonstrates the ability to analyze requirements in the following areas: (a) performance; (b) security;
(c) maintainability; (d) extensibility; (e) availability; (f) requirements that include such human factors, as target audience, localization, accessibility, roaming users, online Help, and special needs; and (g) integration needs for an internet development solution compatible with existing applications. This experience should also demonstrate a working understanding of database architectures, including the ability to choose a data storage architecture. Microsoft Certified Software Developer (MCSD) Certification is recommended, but not required.

Use programming skills to provide software solutions that enable Wycliffe USA to meet their information management needs
While Other duties may be assigned, the following are a minimal set of duties and responsibilities:.
Participates in design discussions
Reviews functional and technical specifications
Researches and creates prototypes for software projects
Build user interface applications using various programming and scripting languages
Tests and fixes problems in existing programs
Participates in code reviews for other software developers
Author, test and document complex programs and web pages according to department standards and written specifications
Researches and evaluates new web technologies (browsers, languages, and plug-ins) for how they might be used in our development process
Assists in creating Web-based technical standards
Attend either in person or via conference call all team meetings and monthly department meetings.
Submit weekly and monthly reports in electronic format to the Systems Development Manager.

This job does not require the individual to have the skills to create graphics or content that will be used in a web site.

Position Education Experience:
Minimum 2 years experience in software development
Good oral and written skills for effective communication
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, and percentages
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to understand and interpret complex data
Experience in analysis of complex functions, procedures, and problems to find effective solutions
