In this position, you will provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of relational database management systems that support enterprise applications.
To qualify for this position, you must have a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and at least one year experience as a database administrator. Also, you must have the ability to design and maintain physical and logical database management systems. This is possible with the aid of information technology. Without it, it is estimated that it will take 150 years to begin Bible translation in every language that needs it. Provides technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of relational database management systems that support enterprise applications.
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ensures logical data models are mapped effectively and efficiently into physical data models that take advantage of the characteristics of the specific database management system used.
Reviews, develops, and designs data models using standard diagramming techniques, in conjunction with application development teams; creates logical data models and translates into physical database structures that integrate with existing or proposed database structures.
Monitors relational databases to optimize database performance, resource use, and physical implementations of databases.
Addresses a variety of database integration issues including migration between disparate databases, integration, maintenance/conversion, capacity planning issues, and new applications.
Maintains development, test, and production databases.
Monitors and manages database backups, logs, and journals; installs, maintains, and upgrades database software; restores and/or recovers data as required.
Creates, procures and maintains various database related documents such as manuals and programmers handbooks.
Collaborates in the design and development of databases to meet user needs and respond to or anticipate technological innovations
Plans and co-ordinates database security measures.
Helps to develop and implement disaster recovery and archiving procedures for enterprise data.
Participates in the Orlando Technical Services Team as well as the Enterprise-wide AIS Systems Team for cross-functional responsibilities.
