We have two vacancies for this position. In this position, you will facilitate the work of Bible translation by developing web software solutions that meet the needs of Wycliffe. You will build user interface applications and back-end databases using various programming and scripting languages. You will author, test and document complex programs and web pages according to department standards and research and evaluate new web technologies (browsers, languages, and plug-ins) for how they might be used in our development process. To qualify for this position, you must have two years experience in software development that demonstrated: a working understanding of database architectures; the ability to construct a conceptual design that is based on a variety of scenarios and that includes context, workflow process, task sequence, and physical environment models; the ability to design object components, user interface, and user services; a working understanding of developing web applications along with an effective test plan; and the ability to listen and understand the perspective of those he/she serves and works with and to understand why they have that perspective and how to best serve them with an appropriate solution. Use programming skills to provide software solutions that enable Wycliffe USA to meet their information management needs.
While Other duties may be assigned, the following are a minimal set of duties and responsibilities:.
Participates in design sessions
Reviews functional and technical specifications
Researches and creates prototypes for software projects
Builds user interface applications using various programming and scripting languages
Tests and fixes problems in existing programs
Participates in code reviews for other software developers
Authors, tests and documents complex programs and web pages according to department standards and written specifications
Researches and evaluates new web technologies (browsers, languages, and plug-ins) for how they might be used in our development process
Assists in creating Web-based technical standards
Attend either in person or via conference call all team meetings and monthly department meetings.
Submit weekly and monthly reports in electronic format to the Systems Development Manager.
