Job Description:
The position of the Teacher-Advocate is especially anchored in relationship, and represents the first and main point of contact for students who, on a daily basis, look to the Teacher-Advocate for mentorship, counsel, and support as well as education. The Teacher-Advocate is first of all a representative of Jesus Christ and champion for relationship, and must be prepared to serve students as teacher, advocate, mentor, and friend, as a means of pointing students to the saving grace of the cross. Daily assignments will be centered on excellence in the classroom, with the Christ-driven imperative to love the cornerstone on which powerful teaching and learning are built. The Teacher-Advocate is considered a "front-lines, trench" minister, and can expect to devote a considerable amount of time to developing their instructional skills and continually sharpening the saw of teaching in all its areas, including Understanding by Design frameworks, Love and Logic principle application, and the understanding of the cultures of poverty and chaos and how they impact a students ability to learn.

Must be a mature (not a new believer) Christian with a proven desire to pray and seek out Gods help in challenging and bringing change to the lives of at-risk youth.
Must certify agreement and support of Jubilee Youth Ranchs Statement of Faith, Mission, and Core Values, and promote its purpose in the community, and additionally certify agreement with and fully participate in Jubilee Youth Ranchs Lifestyle Statement and Policy for all employees.
Must demonstrate an unequivocal spiritual calling to ministry devoted to at-risk youth.
Should possess appropriate credentials as required by state regulations for private schools, and in accordance with Academy policies; a minimum of a bachelors degree in subject area. Teachers will also be required to earn an At-Risk Endorsement during their first year of employment at Jubilee.
Possess current (within the last five years) experience working with at-risk youth populations and demonstrate competency in understanding poverty and cultures of chaos.
Possess an affinity for working with diverse populations, and be able to demonstrate world views conducive to respect for varying cultural perspectives.
Be comfortable and skilled with innovative, nontraditional solutions to problems that draw on the creative resources of faculty, students, and members of the broader community of organizations devoted to at-risk youth.
Possess a unique ability to share power and the ownership of ideas with faculty, as well as a strong desire for collaboration with and among faculty and students.
Be comfortable and skilled at sharing the gospel with others, and be especially willing to make time for prayer with- and spiritual influence of- both faculty and students.
Possess proficiency using all Microsoft Office Programs, and be comfortable using Outlook for communications and scheduling, and Power Point for training, planning, and development purposes.
