The position of Academy Principal is multi-faceted and highly integrated into the overall function of Jubilee Youth Ranch. A driving sense of stewardship for the lives of young men is the cornerstone of this position. The Academy Principal is at all times an educator, a mentor, a manager, and a servant. Duties assigned to this position are considered ministerial in nature and will reflect the purpose of the Academy to honor and glorify Christ in every endeavor. The Academy Principal must be prepared to serve as both an administrator and a classroom teacher on a daily basis, and can expect to devote a considerable amount of time to development of the school, its staff, and its operations. The Academy Principal is also part of the senior management team of Jubilee Youth Ranch and will be called on to contribute ideas, time, and energy to the promotion of Jubilee Youth Ranchs ministry and service.
Must be a mature (not a new believer) Christian with an established ability to lead a team of faculty members who will pray and seek out Gods help in challenging and bringing change to the lives of at-risk youth.
Must certify agreement and support of Jubilee Youth Ranch Statement of Faith, Mission, and Core Values, and promote its purpose in the community.
Must demonstrate an unequivocal spiritual calling to ministry devoted to at-risk youth.
Possess appropriate credentials as required by state regulations for private schools, and in accordance with Academy policies.
Possess a current (within the last five years) experience working with at-risk youth populations and demonstrate competency in understanding poverty and cultures of chaos.
Possess administration experience in secondary school settings, with the ability to demonstrate effective influence and growth in those programs.
Possesses familiarity with state regulations for maintaining accreditation and policies governing the operations of private schools, including academic standards.
Possesses familiarity with alternative educational resources such as NOVEL/Stars, GED preparation, and Job Corps services.
Must possess an affinity for working with diverse populations, and be able to demonstrate world views conducive to respect for varying cultural perspectives.
Must be comfortable and skilled with innovative, nontraditional solutions to problems that draw on the creative resources of faculty and members of the broader community of organizations devoted to at-risk youth.
Possesses familiarity with several managerial styles and be able to skillfully and decisively implement these appropriately and dynamically according to specific tasks and situations.
Must be willing and skilled to assess program operations with objective integrity and a systems-perspective, noting where changes must be made to ensure the vitality and growth of the Academy.
Possesses the ability to establish teams that function according to their established purposes and be able to provide feedback conducive to efficiency and accountability.
Possesses a unique ability to share power and the ownership of ideas with faculty, as well as a strong desire for collaboration with and among faculty.
Must be comfortable and skilled at sharing the gospel with others, and be especially willing to make time for prayer with- and spiritual influence of- both faculty and students.
Must possess proficiency using all Microsoft Office Programs, and be comfortable using Outlook for communications and scheduling, and Power Point for training, planning, and development purposes.
Possesses ability to establish budgets and develop programs from a financial perspective with particular understanding of non-profit fund-raising, grant writing and management, and be concerned with reporting statistical information accurately and within established time frames.
